An information transmission and reception system using portable phones as the information transmission and reception apparatus which performs the transmission and/or reception of information data via an ordinary telephone line in a predetermined area, wherein said system is characterized in that, in a limited area different from said predetermined area, it uses said portable phones as the information transmission and reception apparatus capable of performing the transmission and/or reception of information data.
