  • Patent number: 7098583
Abstract: A slot tension-type shadow mask for the cathode-ray tube (CRT) has slots. Each slot has two openings and a pseudo-bridge between the two opening of the slot. The slots are formed in the X-Y plane that is formed away from the electron gun in the Z-axis. Each pseudo bridge has a pair of protuberances separated by a lacuna. The edges of each protuberance is etched to have various surface profiles in the X, Y, Z directions and/or the shape of the lacuna is also varied to provide effective shielding while overcoming various problems associated with heating and image imperfections appearing on the CRT screen.

  • Publication number: 20040027044
Abstract: A slot tension-type shadow mask for the cathode-ray tube, slots of which are provided with a pseudo-bridge, and the pseudo-bridge is provided with the deviation in the Y-axis direction, is disclosed. The deviation in the Y-axis direction means the condition that, in the relation between the width of the etching part at the mask outer peripheral edge part side (outside etching part) in the Y-axis direction and the width of the etching part at the mask center part side (inside etching part) in Y-axis direction on the surface facing to a screen (being opposite in direction to an electron gun) , the inside etching part is longer than the outside etching part. The outside etching part means a part between an endmost point a of the protuberance at the mask outer peripheral side in the Y-axis direction and a surface edge point b of the protuberance at the outer peripheral side in the Y-axis direction on the surface facing to the screen.

Abstract: A shadow mask is formed with through holes in a predetermined arrangement or pattern. Each of the through holes has a rear surface side hole portion through which an electron beam enters and a front surface side hole portion through which the electron beam outgoes so as to form a beam spot having a predetermined shape on a surface to be irradiated. The front surface side hole portion of the through hole formed at a peripheral portion of the shadow mask has an opening hole area smaller than that of the front surface side hole portion of the through hole formed at a central portion thereof. The front surface side hole portion of the through hole formed at a peripheral portion of the shadow mask may have substantially an elliptical shape having an opening hole width in a direction normal to a virtual line extending from a center of the shadow mask, and the width is made smaller than that of the front surface side hole portion of the through hole formed at a central portion thereof.

  • Patent number: 5709804
Abstract: An aperture grill for a cathode ray tube is formed with parallel slits by etching a cold-rolled low-carbon steel plate from the opposite sides thereof. Before carrying out the etching, the steel plate is subjected to an annealing step whereby the residual stress is reduced to 7.0 Kg/mm.sup.2 or less. The steel plate is also subjected to a tensile force for imparting a tension in the direction of the rolling of a hoop steel from which the steel plate is produced. Furthermore, the steel plate is so oriented that the direction of tapes of the aperture grill to be produced will coincide with the rolling direction. The above process makes it possible to prevent occurrence of "streaks" and improves the quality of images generated on the cathode ray tube.

  • Patent number: 5585224
Abstract: A method of producing an aperture grill of a CRT display device is disclosed. The aperture grill is of a small thickness of the order of 20 to 100 .mu.m. To a metal plate with front and rear surface resin layers are applied front slit pattern mask with a single broad slit pattern and a rear slit pattern mask with two adjacent, narrow slit patterns. With these two masks disposed in opposition, the slit patterns are printed and developed on the resist layers. Thereafter, etching is carried out on the rear surface of the metal plate via the rear resist layer, and rear cavities are formed in the metal plate. Then, a reinforcing, etchant-proof film is attached to the rear resist layer to cover the rear cavities, and thereafter etching is carried out on the front surface of the metal plate via the front resist layer, to thereby form a front cavity.
