  • Publication number: 20100024409
Abstract: A control system for a variable displacement pump-motor type transmission includes: a judging mechanism judging a fact that the discharging amount of any one of the variable displacement pump-motors is zero; and a speed change controller carrying out a control to disable one of the transmission mechanism to transmit the power from the prime mover to the output member by actuating a synchronizer, in case the judging mechanism judges that the discharging amount of the one of the pump-motors functioning to transmit the power from the prime mover to the output member through the one of the transmission mechanism is zero. The control system can carry out a speed change operation of a variable displacement pump-motor type transmission without raising the speed of the prime mover abruptly, by judging a fixed stage set by locking one of the pump-motors.

  • Patent number: 7562561
Abstract: An intake manifold air leak determination system and method for an internal combustion engine including an intake manifold fluidly connected to a plurality of cylinders of the engine and a plurality of fuel injection valves for injecting fuel for the cylinders. Each of the plurality of fuel injection valves corresponds to a respective one of the plurality of cylinders. A fuel cutoff indicating module determines that fuel has been cut from one or more of said plurality of cylinders due to certain operating conditions of the internal combustion engine. An air leak detection module determines whether a significant air leak is occurring at the intake manifold. An air leak fuel cutoff module cuts off fuel supply to the fuel injection valves when the air leak detection module determines that a significant air leak is occurring at the intake manifold.

  • Publication number: 20090170649
Abstract: A vehicle transmission includes at least two driving shafts to which power is transmitted from a power source, a driven shaft to which power is transmitted from the driving shafts, drive transmission mechanisms disposed between the driving shafts and the driven shaft, and a switching mechanism that selectively enables power transmission via the drive transmission mechanisms. The driving shafts are disposed concentrically and fitted rotatably relative to each other. The driving shafts are parallel to the driven shaft. A first drive unit is disposed coaxially with the driving shafts. A second drive unit is disposed coaxially with the driven shaft. The first and second drive units are interconnected so as to send and receive powers changed in energy form to and from each other. The transmission thus constructed is excellent in power transmission efficiency, quietness, vehicle mountability, etc., and can realize continuously variable speed change.

  • Publication number: 20090118975
Abstract: A control for an internal combustion engine having a fuel injection valve for directly injecting fuel to a combustion chamber of the engine, an ignition device for burning an air-fuel mixture containing the fuel injected from the fuel injection valve, and a variable cylinder management mechanism that is capable of changing the number of operating cylinders is provided. The control includes making a transition to an operating mode where the number of operating cylinders is decreased through the variable cylinder management mechanism. It is predicted based on an operating condition of the engine that an air-fuel ratio of an exhaust atmosphere of the engine becomes lean due to a stop of the fuel injection into one or more cylinders to be halted by the transition.

  • Publication number: 20080061262
Abstract: By pouring, by means of pressure, melted liquid of magnesium or magnesium alloy into a hollow portion which is formed using a casting mold, a valve body where a channel groove for hydraulic oil for use in a speed change operation of the automatic transmission is formed. In the above, the channel grove for the hydraulic oil is formed due to a convex portion which is formed on the mold so as to project into the hollow portion. As the magnesium has small heat capacity, variation of the temperature of the mold during the cooling and heating cycle can be suppressed. Moreover, as the magnesium melted liquid has no reactivity with respect to the casting mold, the convex portion is not deteriorated. This allows employment of a mold having a thinner convex portion formed thereon, and therefore formation of a valve body having a narrower channel groove.

  • Patent number: 7128676
Abstract: A failsafe hydraulic circuit designed to avoid simultaneous engagement of two friction engagement elements (e.g., clutches, brakes, etc.) incorporated in a speed change apparatus of a motor vehicle or the like. If a first failsafe valve is in the open position state and a first engaging pressure is supplied to a first hydraulic servo via the first failsafe valve, the first engaging pressure is also input to a first oil pressure switch via a second failsafe valve being in the closed position state. Therefore, using the first oil pressure switch, it can be detected that the first engaging pressure is supplied to the first hydraulic servo. Furthermore, if the first engaging pressure is, for example, greater than the set pressure of the first oil pressure switch, this situation can also be detected. Such detections provide confirmation of normal operation of the first failsafe valve and the second failsafe valve.

  • Patent number: 7038579
Abstract: A catalyst coating 5 for decomposing ozone in the air is applied to an outer surface of cooling pipes 3 and radiating fins 4 of a radiator 2. A peel sensor 2 is provided on the catalyst coating 5 of the radiator 2 to detect a loss (remaining amount) of the catalyst coating 5. The position of detection of the peel sensor 2 is determined according to a temperature characteristic of the radiator 2, and a flow rate of the air passing through the radiator 2. The position of detection of the peel sensor 2 can be determined easily and appropriately, such that loss and deterioration of the catalyst coating 5 can be detected with high precision.

  • Patent number: 6881165
Abstract: A first hydraulic pump and a second hydraulic pump are respectively mounted to both ends of a rotary shaft in an electric motor, whereby it is possible to drive both of the first hydraulic pump and the second hydraulic pump by one electric motor. Since the electric motor is driven and controlled so as to have any higher rotational speed among a rotational speed of the first hydraulic pump for obtaining an amount of working fluid required in a hydraulic control circuit for a power steering apparatus and a rotational speed of the second hydraulic pump for obtaining an amount of working fluid required in a hydraulic control circuit for a power train by a hydraulic pump drive controlling portion, it is possible to necessarily and sufficiently secure the working fluids respectively required in the power steering hydraulic control circuit and the power train hydraulic control circuit which are independent from each other, by a little electric power consumption.
