  • Patent number: 6116716
Abstract: A method for standardizing an ink jet recording head is arranged to be capable of utilizing the characteristics of each of recording heads to the maximum, while maintaining the compatibility between them. Particularly, the compatibility is maintained between the novel type recording head whose interior is partitioned into two layers through movable members, and a conventional type recording head. When the conventional type recording head is mounted on a novel type recording apparatus, all the requirements are handled by the novel type recording apparatus side to drive the conventional type recording head under a condition regulated for the conventional type recording head. When the novel type recording head is mounted on a conventional type recording apparatus, it is driven within the capacity of performance of the conventional type recording apparatus. A discriminator for discriminating the kind of mounted recording head is provided for each of the recording apparatuses.

  • Patent number: 5831646
Abstract: An ink jet printing apparatus has a discharge recovery system that controls the amount of ink suction in a discharge recovery operation on the basis of a property of the ink in a cartridge mounted on the apparatus. The discharge recovery operation can also be controlled when the power to the apparatus is turned on if a cartridge has been replaced or mounted while the power is off.

  • Patent number: 5548308
Abstract: A liquid-discharge recording apparatus such as an ink-jet printer comprises: a liquid-discharge recording unit having an emission energy generating device including an electrothermal energy converting device which can heat a recording liquid such as an ink to form liquid droplets in response to an electrical signal, in which this recording unit emits the liquid droplets and deposits them on a recording paper and thereby recording thereon; a recording unit control circuit which can set and supplies the electrical signal to form the liquid droplets to the emission energy generating device in response to a recording signal; and an emission controller for setting the electrical signal to form the liquid droplets to the recording unit control circuit when a power supply is turned on, thereby allowing the recording unit to and emit the liquid droplets in accordance with an environmental condition such as a temperature of the recording liquid.

  • Patent number: 5485182
Abstract: In order to prevent change in the properties of recording liquid such as surface tension, viscosity, etc. a recording head is provided with an integral temperature sensor. The temperature controlling operation is performed in response to an output of the temperature sensor to maintain the recording liquid within a predetermined temperature range. In order to correct the variation in the properties of the individual temperature sensors, the main apparatus contains a reference temperature sensor. The temperature sensor of the recording head is corrected in its output on the basis of comparison between the temperature sensors. The recording head is provided with information representative of a property of the temperature sensor of the recording head. By the mounting of the recording head into the apparatus, the information is read, and the output of the temperature sensor is corrected on the basis of the read information.

  • Patent number: 5479607
Abstract: A video data processing system includes a CPU, a video memory, video data shift registers, a ternary counter, an octal counter, a blanking counter, and a flip-flop. Video data is shifted in the shift registers in response to an output from the ternary counter. The outputs from the ternary counter are counted by the octal counter, and an output from the octal counter is counted by the blanking counter so as to count down a blanking parameter. A borrow output from the blanking sets the flip-flop to hold video data which is then stored in the video memory. This operation is repeated up to the last H along the main scanning direction. The initial value of the blanking parameter is incremented by one by one to repeat main scanning inputs along a subscanning direction.
