Patent number: 5084383Abstract: Residual extracellular protease activities of a Bacillus subtilis strain can be further reduced by introducing a gene for the stimulation of extracellular protease levels into the genomic DNA of the strain. The resultant strain whose extracellular protease activities are further reduced is transformed with a recombinant plasmid for secretion of a desired protein and the desired protein can be efficiently produced and accumulated in the culture medium in a large amount. The accumulated desired protein can be easily recovered from the culture medium. For example, the accumulation level of human growth hormone secreted by a B. subtilis MT-430 strain carrying recombinant DNA phGH427 for the expression and secretion of human growth hormone can be increased five to tenfold as a result of the above treatment for reduction of the residual extracellular protease activities of the extracellular protease-activity-deficient strain.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 1990Date of Patent: January 28, 1992Assignees: Agency of Industrial Science and Technology, Ministry of International Trade and IndustryInventors: Yoshio Furutani, Masaru Honjo, Akira Nakayama, Koichi Kawamura, Hiroaki Shimada, Izumi Mita, Akiko Akaoka

Patent number: 5015574Abstract: A expression-secretion vector is constructed by using a DNA sequence comprising a DNA fragment obtained by subjecting a DNA sequence consisting of a region involved in the expression of a gene coding for an extracellular enzyme of a bacterium of the genus Bacillus and a region involved in the secretion of the enzyme thus expressed to a deletion in the region involved in the secretion which can enhance the extracellular production of a protein dependent on the DNA fragment. By transforming a host bacterium with a recombinant DNA molecule formed by inserting a DNA fragment comprising a gene coding for a desired protein into the expression-secretion vector and then culturing the transformed host, the extracellular production of the desired protein in a large amount can be accomplished.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1986Date of Patent: May 14, 1991Assignees: Agency of Industrial Science and Technology, Extra-Ministerial Bureau of Ministry of International Trade and IndustryInventors: Yoshio Furutani, Akira Nakayama, Masaru Honjo, Hiroaki Shimada, Kouichi Kawamura, Izumi Mita, Akiko Akaoka

Patent number: 4421954Abstract: An automatic telephone answering device employs a single magnetic tape and a single driving mechanism for driving the magnetic tape. Whenever an incoming call is received, a control circuit of the device sets the driving mechanism into a playback mode to play to the calling party an outgoing message recorded at the beginning of a track on the single magnetic tape. Then, if there have been no previously recorded incoming messages, the device records the calling party's incoming message on the same track after detecting the end of the recorded outgoing message. However, if any incoming messages have been recorded previously on the same track of the single magnetic tape, the tape is advanced at high speed to a point beyond the last of these previously recorded incoming messages. Then, the present incoming message is recorded. As soon as the incoming call is terminated and the recording of the incoming message is ended, the device is set into a rewind mode.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 1981Date of Patent: December 20, 1983Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Satoshi Mita, Kouichi Tanaka, Yoshitomo Nakano, Harumi Saita, Akira Nakayama

Patent number: 4069436Abstract: A flat thermionic cathode is provided with a substrate having at least one main heating element thereon to produce at least one substantially localized area of heat and a sub-heating element to substantially define a heating area, the localized area being produced within the heating area. A cathode element including electron emissive material is disposed at the localized area. Patent number: 3979623Abstract: An indicator display tube in which indicator electrode units, each consisting of anode and cathode segments, lie in the same plane and in which all of the cathode segments are simultaneously energized and the anode electrodes are energized on a time sequential basis in such a manner that only the indicator electrode unit having its anode electrodes energized will glow at a particular time. The cathode segments of each indicator unit are connected in parallel which substantially reduces the number of leads to the display tube over conventional indicators which require a separate lead for energizing each of the cathode segments. The indicator display tube has means for preventing accidental discharge of adjacent indicator electrode units which would produce erroneous message displays.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 1973Date of Patent: September 7, 1976Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Yuzuru Yanagisawa, Akio Ohgoshi, Akira Nakayama, Shoichi Muramoto
