  • Patent number: 4907776
Abstract: A seat adjusting device for adjusting the seat position in the forward and backward directions by means of an externally provided motor. The device comprises an upper rail and a lower rail, both of them being slidably fitted together, a lead male screw rotatably supported within the space between the upper and lower rails, a female screw block which is also provided within that space and threadedly engaged with the lead male screw, and a drive mechanism disposed at the end of the upper lower rails in a manner exposed externally away from such space between those two rails. The seat adjusting device is, therefore, capable of small-sized formation and of being assembled with much ease without failure.

  • Patent number: 4865388
Abstract: A headrest for an automotive seat which comprises a head contact portion, a stretchable rear portion which includes an elastic webbing, and an air bag disposed within those two portions, all of them being fixed upon the top of seat back of the seat. The expansion or shrivelling of the air bag, by using an air pump, causes the headrest to raise for turning upright the head contact portion, or permits the air bag to be compressed by the contracting force of the webbing, thereby lowering the headrest.

  • Patent number: 4843919
Abstract: A reduction gear unit which comprises a housing, an input shaft rotatably supported in the housing, an eccentric cam member integrally fixed on the input shaft, an idler gear rotatably provided around the eccentric cam member, and a drive plate member provided integrally with an output shaft member, the drive plate member being rotatably supported in a coaxial relation with the input shaft. The idler gear is formed with a first and second external teeth in such a manner that the first external teeth are partly meshed with an internally toothed portion formed in the housing, and the second external teeth are partly meshed with an internally toothed portion formed in the drive plate member. Thus, an input rotation force is reduced in a tow-fold way and transmitted in a coaxial manner.

  • Patent number: 4781779
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a trim cover assembly for a vehicle seat, in which a decorative strip preformed in a predetermined shape and a substrate are pressed and heated together by upper and lower dies of a high frequency wave welding apparatus, while a high frequency wave is applied thereto. The upper die has a working surface larger than the decorative strip and formed with a fine crimp and fine irregularity. Thus, the decorative strip is welded integrally to the substrate on the same level, to thereby produce a greatly advantageous and aesthetic trim cover assembly.

  • Patent number: 4634332
Abstract: An automatic control system for a vehicle such as a fork lift truck automates the transportation, loading and unloading operations of the vehicle in a work area. Leader cables disposed in the work area are supplied with instruction signals of respectively different frequencies from terminal units in response to commands from a central control device. Any cable or a combination of two cables forms a ehicle guideway along which the travel of the vehicle is controlled by instruction signal pickup coils on the vehicle and along which loading and unloading stations for the vehicle are located. Loading and unloading are effected without using the leader cables, the necessary instruction signals then being received from the central control device by the vehicle from a coil disposed at the loading and unloading station.

  • Patent number: 4629352
Abstract: A joint housing has mounted therein a bearing supporting a ball portion of a ball stud, extending outwardly therefrom, so as to allow angular displacement thereof. The ball portion comprises a greater diameter portion of the ball stud, such as a sphere-segmental head on its extreme end, and a sphere-segmental shell coaxially surrounding the ball stud with a spacing therebetween. The shell has an inturned annular rim at one end thereof in an opposed relation to an annular shoulder provided by the head of the ball stud. A one-piece elastomeric bushing is injection molded in place between the ball stud and the shell. Part of the bushing further fills the annular gap between the shoulder of the ball stud and the inturned rim of the shell. Preferably prestressed, this part of the bushing serves to prevent the development of looseness with the progress of wear and further to minimize the axial displacement of the ball stud relative to the joint housing under load.

  • Patent number: 4572693
Abstract: A ball-and-socket joint is protected in sealed state by a boot firmly secured at its outer end to the ball stud of the ball and at its inner end to the joint assembly by a clamping ring made of an elastic material in the form of a coil wound spirally with rectangular-section winding turns thereof lying adjacently side-by-side in the plane of the clamping ring. The spirally-coiled construction, in contrast to a helically-coiled construction, of the clamping ring permits it to be expanded greatly at the time of its fitting in the boot groove for assembly with little permanent deformation, whereby a great clamping force is obtainable.

  • Patent number: 4555141
Abstract: A vehicle seat is disclosed which includes a pan-type frame, a pad formed of a foam material, and a top layer adapted to cover the surface of said pad and also to fix said pad to said frame, while the end of said top layer is secured to the frame simultaneously with the formation of said pad. Accordingly, the conventional fixing step of fixing the top layer end to the frame by means of hogged rings or the like is not necessary, which results in a simplified and positive fixation of the top layer end. In other words, the following conventional steps can be eliminated: forming a frame in a pan structure; causing a foam material to foam within a metal mold having a predetermined configuration to form a pad in order to obtain a structure corresponding to that of the associated seat; and placing a top layer over the pad to be secured to the frame. With the invention, the top layer can be integrally secured to the frame by means of a foam material for forming a pad.

  • Patent number: 4373876
Abstract: An easy-to-assemble compressor having a pair of parallel, double-headed pistons reciprocably mounted in respective cylinder chambers in a compressor housing. The pistons are mounted on a crankshaft via Scotch-yoke-type sliders slidably engaged in the respective pistons for reciprocating movement in a direction normal to the piston axis. The sliders convert the rotation of the crankshaft into linear reciprocation of the pistons. The dimensions of these sliders are determined in relation to the other parts of the compressor so that, during the assemblage of the compressor, the sliders may be mounted in position by being passed over the opposite end portions of the crankshaft following the mounting of the pistons and crankshaft within the housing.

  • Patent number: 4241928
Abstract: A boot seal mounted on a pivotal ball joint comprises a boss portion, a waist portion disposed in the outer periphery of the boss portion and a skirt portion disposed in the outer periphery of the waist portion. The boss portion has an upper surface brought into intimate contact with a lower end surface of a joint member mounted on a shank of the ball joint, and the skirt portion has an internal wall brought into intimate contact with an upper outer periphery of a socket housing in the ball joint. The boss portion is provided at its lower surface with a flare portion protruded downward and outward. The flare portion has, while being elastically flexed, a lower edge placed in touch with an upper end surface of the socket housing. This elasticity of the flare portion provides a close contact between the lower edge of the flare portion and the upper end surface of the socket housing and a close contact between the upper surface of the boss portion and the lower end surface of the joint member.

  • Patent number: 4121844
Abstract: Disclosed is an inverted cup-shaped cover of deformable material to be fitted over an open socket housing end of a pivotal ball joint assembly. The cover has a pair of opposite end openings, one of which is considerably smaller in diameter than the other and receives therethrough in sealed relationship the shank of a ball stud protruding from the housing through an open end thereof. The cover has a gently curved longitudinal sectional configuration and is flared toward its other end opening at which it is fitted over the open end of the housing. A ring is embedded in the flared portion of the cover and has an inner circumferential edge exposed toward the interior of the cover. This inner edge is sharp-angled and has a diameter slightly smaller than the maximum diameter of the housing at the open end thereof. This ring is formed of resilient material, for example, spring steel.
