    Abstract: A stress transmission device arranged between a pile head of a foundation pile and an upper structural portion for transmitting stress between the foundation pile and the upper structural portion, to a structure which employs such a stress transmission device, and to a method of constructing such a structure. In the figures, a pile head member 5 is provided to the pile head 2a of the foundation pile 2, a structure support member 6 is fixed to an upper structural portion 3, and these mutually contact one another in the vertical direction via a first contacting surface 11 which defines a portion of a first imaginary spherical surface Sv1. And a prestressing steel rod 7 is fitted to the pile head member 5 and the structure support member 6 for holding them together in contact while pressing them together via the first contacting surface 11.

    Abstract: An air conditioner having an improved humidifying portion to humidify air in a room is provided. The humidifying portion includes a humidifying member having hygroscopicity and gas permeability, a first air flow passage for taking in air from the outdoors, passing the air through the humidifying member, allowing the humidifying member to absorb moisture included in the air for drying, and letting out the air outdoors, and a second air flow passage for taking in air from the room, passing the air through the humidifying member while heating the air, allowing the moisture absorbed by the humidifying member to evaporate and humidify the air and letting out the air into the room. Thus, only a single air intake opening for humidifying indoor air is necessary on the indoor side, the structure of the air conditioner can be simplified and compact, which makes easier the attachment.

The planetary gear mechanism includes a sun gear rotated by the drive motor, a ring gear which steadily meshes with one of a first rack provided on the mode selection lever and a second rack provided on the cassette carrying mechanism, and a carrier which steadily meshes with another of the first rack and second rack.

    Abstract: A capacity control device for a screw compressor provided with a capacity control passage and a slide valve adjusting the opening thereof, wherein the slide valve is driven in a closing direction due to a pressure difference between a high pressure and a low pressure and is moved in an opening direction thanks to function of a spring when the high pressure is balanced with the low pressure, and when the pressure difference between the high pressure and low pressure is lower to cause the slide valve to be open thanks to the function of the spring, the slide valve is moved in the closing direction against the spring by use of pressure in a compression-processing part in the screw compressor, thereby enabling to quickly transit from no load condition to a loaded condition.

    Abstract: This invention provides a magnetic recording medium with excellent electromagnetic characteristics and running durability. According to the invention, a magnetic powder is kneaded with a cross-linkable or polymerizable resin binder, together with a phosphoric ester having a polymerizable, unsaturated double bond or bonds, the resulting coating material is applied to a substrate, and then the coating is cross-linked or polymerized. The addition of the phosphoric ester in place of an ordinary dispersing agent improves the mechanical properties of the magnetic coating and the durability and running quality of the magnetic recording medium.

    Abstract: A volumetric machine comprises a screw rotatable inside a casing and cooperating with at least one pinion-wheel. The screw has a low pressure end adjacent a low pressure port and a high pressure end adjacent a high pressure port, the high pressure end being provided with an annular sealing device substantially preventing axial leakage towards a cavity maintained at the low pressure to reduce axial thrusts on the screw. The profile of the screw corresponds to that of the casing with a very small clearance, except in an area adjacent the sealing device where the clearance increases from the low pressure side towards the sealing device.

    Abstract: A laminated member comprising a metal foil or sheet (1) and a thermoplastic resin film (4) bonded together with an adhesive selected from a carboxyl group-containing polyolefin and a polyolefin based resin prepared by heat-compounding a carboxyl group-containing polyolefin and a metal compound is heated at a higher temperature than the melting temperature of the adhesive and pressed using a heating roll (3) and a nip roll (6). The laminated member is then cooled at the heat distortion temperature of the adhesive or at a temperature higher than the heat distortion temperature while applying a pressure of at least 0.2 kg/cm.sup.2 with a cooling roll (10) and a nip roll (11).

    Abstract: A process for the preparation of laminates comprising the steps of (1) putting a thermoplastic resin sheet or film and a metal foil or sheet one upon another with a specific polyolefin type resin being interposed therebetween, (2) heating the thus interposed specific polyolefin type resin to a temperature not lower than the melting point of the specific polyolefin type resin to obtain an intermediate laminate and (3) laminating at least one of thermoplastic sheets or films and paper on the metal foil or sheet side of said intermediate laminate using therebetween an ordinary adhesive not requiring heating at a temperature not lower than said melting point at the time of lamination thereby to obtain a desired laminate. In one embodiment, this invention also relates to a foodstuff packaging container wherein the innermost layer is a polyolefin resin sheet or film.
