  • Publication number: 20070071531
Abstract: A tape printer includes a holder support member at one side end in a roll sheet holder storage part in a direction substantially perpendicular to a feeding direction. In the holder support member, a mounting piece which is substantially rectangular in section and formed protruding outward on a positioning holding member of a roll sheet holder is fitted. The tape printer further includes a flat portion formed substantially horizontally between a rear edge of an insertion opening through which a roll sheet is inserted into the tape printer. On the flat portion, a front portion of a guide member is placed. At a rear edge of the flat portion in the feeding direction, at plural positions corresponding to various kinds of the roll sheets having different widths, there are formed four second positioning grooves in which part of the guide member is fitted.

  • Publication number: 20060008312
Abstract: A top cover and a guide member form a discharge port. A plurality of guide ribs is provided on an edge portion of the top cover. A plurality of projecting pieces is provided on a guide member at positions not to face to the guide ribs. These guide ribs and projecting pieces are used for guiding a roll sheet to a discharge port. At least one of the guide ribs is provided with an extended portion extending upstream in a feeding direction to prevent the roll sheet 3A from curving in a direction vertical to the feeding direction. Thus, the inability to discharge the roll sheet can be avoided.

  • Publication number: 20060007294
Abstract: A roll sheet is unwound and fed with its side edge being positioned in a reference point of the thermal head, and then subjected to printing by the thermal head. Coil springs are placed at positions respectively dividing substantially equally a length from a center to each end of the thermal head. A distribution of loads on the thermal head by each coil spring is determined so that a load exerted on the thermal head on the reference point side is larger than a load exerted on the thermal head on the opposite side. A position of a resultant force of the coil springs acts on the thermal head at a position displaced by a distance obtained by multiplying an entire length of the thermal head by a coefficient, from a center of the thermal head in the longitudinal direction toward the reference point.

  • Publication number: 20050162501
Abstract: A cutting edge of a movable blade mounted to a cutter holder is inclined at an oblique cross angle. The cutting edge of the movable blade obliquely intersects a roll sheet placed on a cutter plate in its cutting direction. This ensures that the cutting edge cuts the roll sheet sharply. On this regard, this oblique cross angle has an influence on the number of times that the cutting edge is capable of cutting. An appropriate range of the oblique cross angle is 24° and 34°. The oblique cross angle is an angle formed between an upper surface of the cutter plate and the cutting edge in the cutting direction of the movable blade.

  • Patent number: 6254228
Abstract: An image recording apparatus allows a single drive device to drive an ink cartridge conveying unit and ink hammers, thereby reducing the production cost. A drive motor supplies a drive force to rollers that convey ink cartridges and link mechanisms that push solid ink pieces out of ink cartridges. A planetary gear is provided to make it possible to select whether to transmit a drive force from the drive motor to the conveying rollers. Therefore, the apparatus is able to transmit a drive force to the conveying rollers only during conveyance of an ink cartridge, and to prevent transmission of drive force to the conveying rollers when the drive motor drives the link mechanisms, while employing the single drive motor to drive the conveying rollers and the link mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 6170946
Abstract: An image forming device provided with a main cover 6 that is capable of freely opening and closing and that covers an internally provided recording medium feed mechanism and the area scanned by the recording head during recording operations; and a maintenance cover 7 that is provided separately from the main cover in order to cover the maintenance mechanism and that is capable of freely opening and closing. Being provided separately from the main cover, the maintenance cover can be constructed relatively small and is, therefore, easy to open and close when replacing the maintenance paper. In addition, by only opening the maintenance cover while the recording head is positioned in the scanning area, the temperature of the recording head is not lowered.

  • Patent number: 6102519
Abstract: In the position detection device, a timing fence is formed with a plurality of slits which are arranged in its elongated direction. An elongated metal member is provided for supporting the timing fence so that the timing fences will extend in the scanning direction of the image recording head. An encoder is provided for counting the slits on the timing fence while the carriage moves. A gap between the encoder and the elongated metal member can be adjusted properly and uniformly through rotating eccentric collars of the adjustment members inserted into the elongated through-holes in the elongated metal member.

  • Patent number: 5667321
Abstract: Printed paper is peeled off from an ink sheet at a rear sheet guide roller to be initially fed along a tangential line on a platen roller. When the leading edge of the paper reaches a projecting portion on one of two guide plates, the paper is forcibly bent or redirected toward the other guide plate beyond or through the tangential line, the paper being formed in a shape generally resembling the letter S along a clearance between the projecting portion and the other guide plate. The paper carried in this shape has an inherent stiffness and therefore does not generate vibration due to shaking when peeled off from the ink sheet at the rear sheet guide roller. Consequently, the paper does not beat the guide plates and generates no noise.
