Patent number: 6054826Abstract: Backward movement of a heavy motorcycle is assisted by a starter motor for cranking an engine of the motorcycle. A backward drive control system includes a pulse width modulation circuit for supplying operating current to the starter motor in a controlled manner and a device for estimating operating temperature of the starter motor based on the current supplied to the starter motor. When the estimated temperature reaches a predetermined maximum temperature, the operation of the starter motor is compulsorily stopped and prohibited for a certain period or until the starter motor is cooled down to a certain temperature level. Overheating of the starter motor is effectively prevented without using a temperature sensor for measuring the operating temperature. Moreover, chattering of the starter motor does not occur because its operation is prohibited for a certain period after the starter motor is once compulsorily stopped.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 1999Date of Patent: April 25, 2000Assignee: Denso CorporationInventors: Ryuichi Murakami, Akira Shinoda, Hiroo Utsumi, Kazunori Ozawa

Patent number: 5007849Abstract: A keyboard is hinged at the front end of the main body of an electronic apparatus. The keyboard swings around the hinge section to have a folding position in which it is raised upright against the front face of the main body and an operating position in which it is laid down in a virtually horizontal attitude. The keyboard incorporates a key switch circuit board on which a matrix of electrical contacts is formed, and the main body incorporates a main controller board for the electrical apparatus. A connecting printed circuit board is used to connect the signal lines of the key switch circuit board to the corresponding signal lines of the main controller board. The connecting printed circuit board is flexible, and is bent when the keyboard takes one of the folding position and operating position. Its bend is relaxed when the keyboard takes the other position.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1990Date of Patent: April 16, 1991Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Akira Shinoda

Patent number: 4450942Abstract: A centrifugal clutch mechanism couples a first driven element to a drive element for rotary torque transmission at a first speed range from a rotary drive source to a load when the rotation of the drive source is lower than a predetermined reference speed. The centrifugal clutch mechanism includes a double-arm coupling lever pivoted to the drive element, a clutch pad or shoe pivoted to one end of the coupling lever and having a surface engagable with an inner surface of the first driven element, and a pair of centrifugal weights carried on the other end of the coupling lever. At least one flat spring is yieldably fastened to the weight or to a stop rigid on the drive element to be frictionally engaged by the stop or the weight, thereby resisting frictional oscillation of the clutch shoe on the coupling lever during a transition range between completely coupled and completely uncoupled mode of operation of the centrifugal clutch.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1981Date of Patent: May 29, 1984Assignee: Diesel Kiki Company, Ltd.Inventors: Hideyasu Takefuta, Akira Shinoda

Patent number: 4273226Abstract: Input and output member (21), (28) and a clutch disc (32) are coaxially rotatable relative to each other, the clutch disc (32) being frictionally engageable with the input member (21). A coil-wound spring (33) is wound around the input member (21) and connected at its ends to the clutch disc (32) and output member (28). An electromagnetic coil (26) may be energized to attract the clutch disc (32) into frictional engagement with the input member (21), causing the coil-wound spring (33) to tightly wind around the input member (21) and drivably connect the input member (21) to the output member (28). A generally tubular cover (34) surrounds the coil-wound spring (33), the spring means (40) moving the clutch disc (32) toward engagement with the cover (34) when the coil (26) is de-energized.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 1979Date of Patent: June 16, 1981Assignee: Diesel Kiki Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hideyasu Takefuta, Akira Shinoda, Teruyoshi Shibauta
