  • Publication number: 20020143698
Abstract: So that a purchaser can book and purchase a commodity without having to bear anything extra other than what he or she usually bear, purchaser terminal unit 10 transmits to a credit card company terminal unit 40 commodity booking information and a credit card number designated by the purchaser, and the credit card company terminal unit 40 stores the booking information and the credit card number matched with each other. A retail store terminal unit 30 enters the credit card number from the credit card presented by the purchaser, transmits that credit card number to the credit card company terminal unit 40 to have the matching booking information returned, and cause the commodity matching that booking information to be sold to the purchaser.

  • Patent number: 6434580
Abstract: A client computer 100 enters with a draft preparation means 100 a piece of draft data prepared by an inventor, and transmits with a draft uploading means 103 the draft data and a piece of invention report information to a server computer 300. The server computer 300 receives with a draft receiving means 301 the transmitted pieces of draft data and invention report information, and enters them with a draft entry means 302 into a specification file 303, the data and the information being associated with each other. A client computer 200 transfers with a draft downloading means 201 the draft data entered in the server computer 300, revises with a draft revision means 202 the draft data, and transmits with a draft uploading means 203 the revised draft data to the server computer 300.

  • Patent number: 5475844
Abstract: A system and method for evaluating resource utilization are provided. The utilization of each subsystem can then be displayed in a manner enabling a user to easily evaluate performance evaluation. The present invention determines whether any of the resources constituting a computer system are subject to a heavy load by entering system management facility records and comparing them with preset threshold values for resource utilization ratios. The job or resource which has subjected this resource to a heavy load is then identified as the bottleneck. The result is presented to the user via a graphical display.

  • Patent number: 5261086
Abstract: A performance analyzing and diagnosing system enables a user with little knowledge or experience to evaluate the performance of a computer system. An external memory stores know-how rules and declaratively represented rules needed to solve a performance problem of the computer system. The know-how rules are based on a problem solving method an expert might apply to the problem and may be in IF-THEN format. The declaratively represented rules provide information concerning the computer system. A work area processor, after receipt of a start instruction from an input/output unit, develops the know-how rules and the declaratively represented rules. A performance analysis/diagnosis information output means derives a solution to the performance problem and outputs a solution to the input/output unit.

  • Patent number: 4912711
Abstract: For use in a computer system for individually diagnosing various failures and obtaining counterplanes for the failures, a diagnosing device comprises a memory, an editing unit, and a matching unit. Feature information signal representative of features of the failures and counterplan information signals indicative of counterplans for the failures are preliminarily stored in the memory as memorized feature signals and as memorized counterplan signals in correspondence to the respective memorized feature signals. Responsive to an operation information signal produced by the computer system to represent a state of operation which the computer system has or had upon occurrence of each failure, the editing unit produces an edited signal identical with one of an failure information signals that represents the feature of failure in the state represented by the operation information signal.
