  • Patent number: 5820819
Abstract: The present invention has an object to provide a steel for a chimney or a gas duct, which is excellent in pitting resistance and rust adhesion in a corrosive environment caused by combustion waste gas in a plant in which the combustion of natural gas occurs. Pitting resistance and rust adhesion are remarkably improved in the steel of the present invention which steel is prepared by using a 5% Cr steel as the base, while reducing an impurity sulfur to not more than 0.010 wt. %, adding titanium within a range of 0.005 to 0.05 wt. %, and further adding nickel alone within a range of 1.0 to 2.5 wt. %, or adding molybdenum alone within a range of 0.10 to 1.0 wt. %, or adding in combination therewith trace amount of copper or molybdenum within a range of 0.10 to 1.0 wt. %.

  • Patent number: 5196786
Abstract: Applying a first light (.lambda.=950 nm) to a Si wafer to generate electron-hole pairs, a microwave is emitted to the Si wafer and the amount of reflection of the microwave is measured. In like manner, applying a second light (.lambda.=633 nm), the amount of reflection of the microwave is measured. The two amounts are normalized by intensities of the lights respectively. In order to cancel an error resulting from geometrical position between a measuring apparatus and the Si wafer, a normalized finite difference is calculated through subtraction between the normalized amounts. The difference may be obtained by another calculation so that it stays in a specified width when a uniformly doped Si wafer is measured.

  • Patent number: 4949034
Abstract: This invention discloses a method for contactless evaluation of characteristics of semiconductor wafers and devices. The method includes the steps of (a) continuously irradiating focused microwaves on a surface of a semiconductor specimen; (b) continuously receiving reflected microwaves reflected from said surface; (c) irradiating a focused laser beam pulse on the specimen, energy of the pulse being in excess of the band-gap energy of the semiconductor material; (d) measuring lifetime .tau..sub.m from the time-history of the characteristics of the reflected microwaves; and (e) calculating the surface recombination velocity S and bulk lifetime .tau..sub.b. The focused microwaves and focused laser beam can improve the resolution during measurement.

  • Patent number: 4360022
Abstract: A sanitary napkin comprising a filler including a water-permeable layer of hydrophobic fibers for passing the body fluid therethrough and an absorbing layer underlying the layer for absorbing the fluid, and a water-permeable covering which covers the filler. The napkin is used with the water-permeable layer in contact with the human body. The water permeable layer has outstanding water permeability and functions to prevent reverse flow, permitting the absorbing layer to readily absorb the body fluid while preventing the fluid from returning toward the body. The napkin therefore has an agreeable feel at all times during use without feeling wet or sticky. The cushioning property of the water-permeable layer also gives a comfortable feel.
