Publication number: 20140305715Abstract: Having three or more vehicle wheels (1, 29 and also having a diverting mechanism (4) that can independently divert each of the vehicle wheels (1, 2), a driving wheel of the vehicle wheels (1, 2) is run driven by a run drive mechanism (5) having an independent prime mover (6). Accordingly, an unusual traveling operation, which results in a in-situ swing or a sidewise movement is enabled. In an automobile of the above given construction, a travel mode switching unit (41) is provided to perform switching between a usual travel mode and an unusual travel mode. By so constructing, the switching of a travel mode between an unusual travel mode and a usual travel mode can be implemented as intended by a driver and there is no possibility that the switching may occur accidentally.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 22, 2012Publication date: October 16, 2014Inventors: Tomoaki Makino, Akira Yamagata

Publication number: 20130057048Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide an in-wheel motor driving device which includes a highly adaptable suspension mounting portion, is light weighted, and has reduced drag friction at the time of steering operation. An in-wheel motor driving device comprises: a motor section A which rotates a motor-side rotation member; a speed reducer section B which reduces and transmits rotation of the motor-side rotation member to a wheel-side rotation member; and a wheel hub connected and fixed to the wheel-side rotation member. The above three elements are disposed in series from an inboard side to an outboard side of a vehicle, and suspension mounting brackets are fixed onto an outer surface of the speed reducer section's housing. Arms of a suspension are attached via the suspension mounting brackets.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 17, 2011Publication date: March 7, 2013Inventors: Aiko Ishikawa, Minoru Suzuki, Tetsuya Yamamoto, Akira Yamagata

Publication number: 20050077137Abstract: A power transmission mechanism for a vehicle includes a clutch assembly which includes a two-way clutch and an electromagnetic clutch. The two-way clutch includes three rows of rollers retained by a retainer and disposed between a clutch inner member, which is actually a stem of a constant-velocity joint mounted on the outboard end of a drive axle, and a clutch outer member, which is actually a hub ring of a hub bearing supporting a vehicle wheel. Simply by energizing and deenergizing the electromagnet of the electromagnetic clutch, the two-way clutch can be engaged and disengaged. Since the rollers are arranged in three rows, it is possible to increase the contact area between the rollers and the clutch inner and outer members and thus the maximum torque that can be transmitted through the rollers without the need to increase the number of rollers in each row or their length or diameter.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 9, 2004Publication date: April 14, 2005Inventors: Takashi Nozaki, Akira Yamagata, Hiroyuki Hakamata, Yoshihiko Hayama
