  • Patent number: 5989217
Abstract: A medicine administering device for nasal cavities, comprising a capsule holding section formed with a capsule containing powder-state medicine. An air supply section is connected to the lower end of the capsule holding section and formed with an air supply passage which is in communication with the capsule accommodating chamber. A branched passage section is connected to the upper end of the capsule holding section and has an air flow passage in communication with the capsule accommodating chamber. The air flow passage is bifurcated to form first and second outlet passage portions which are arranged to form a generally Y-shape. First and second medicine passages are formed such that air from the branched passage section flows therethrough to carry the medicine in the capsule into right-side and left-side nasal cavities of a patient. The first and second passages are respectively in communication with the first and second outlet passages of the branched passage section.

  • Patent number: 5921236
Abstract: A capsule holder 2 of a medicine administering device 1 for nasal cavities comprises a movable member 8 which is axially movable, and a fixed member 3, in which the movable member 8 is formed at its outer periphery with an external thread 8D which is to be threadedly engaged with an internal thread 19C of a medicine spraying section 19. An air inflow hole H is formed by a perforating end 27A of a pin 27 when a capsule K is thrust into a one-side capsule hole 11, while the movable member 8 is raised so that the perforating end 27A is extracted from the air inflow hole H1 when the capsule holder 2 and the medicine spraying section 19 are incorporated with each other. An air outflow hole H2 is formed by a pin 28. A perforating tool is housed in the medicine administering device 1, in which a hole formation action for the air inflow hole H1 is also made during installation of the capsule K.

  • Patent number: 5901703
Abstract: A capsule holder is provided with a capsule accommodating hole and a supplying valve. A pump section having a sucking valve is provided at the air inflow-side of the capsule holder, while a medicine spraying section having two medicine passages diverging from the capsule accommodating hole and spraying holes is provided at the air outflow-side of the capsule holder. A perforator is housed in the medicine spraying section. A capsule is accommodated in the capsule accommodating hole, and through-holes are formed in the capsule with the perforator, upon which the medicine within the capsule can be administered to the left and right nasal cavities of a patient under the action of air from the pump section. Additionally, a spreading chamber is provided to be formed at the downstream side of the capsule accommodating hole.

  • Patent number: 5899202
Abstract: A distance-adjustable nozzle mechanism 25 is disposed to a passage member 17 to be located at the ejection sides of left and right medicine passages 20, 20. The distance-adjustable nozzle distance 25 includes fitting projection sections 26, 26 formed in the passage member 17, adjustable nozzles 27, 27 which are rotatably and detachably attached to the fitting projection sections 26, and tapered spray holes 28, each of which is in communication with the medicine passage 20 and formed throughout the fitting projection section 26, and the adjustable nozzle 27, in which the axis of the adjustable nozzle 27 is eccentric to a rotational center. Accordingly, when each adjustable nozzle 27 is rotated, the nozzles can approach or separate from each other by an amount corresponding to the eccentricity relative to the rotational center, so that the nozzle pitch between the respective adjustable nozzles 27 can be easily adjusted in conformity with the distance between the nasal cavities of the patient.

  • Patent number: 5752505
Abstract: An inhalation type medication delivery device includes a dispenser body having a powder containment chamber at one axial side thereof and an inhalation port for drawing in a powder type medication on the another. An attached lid is provided on the dispenser body for opening and/or closing the powder containment chamber. In addition, an air passage is defined in the body allowing a powder type medication to be introduced into an airflow toward the inhalation port according to inhalation by a user. One end of the air passage opens through the lid towards the outside atmosphere and the other end communicates with the inhalation port while passing through the powder containment chamber. Also, a check valve is installed in the lid to prevent air drawn into said inhalation port from flowing in an outward direction opposite a medication delivery direction toward the inhalation port.

  • Patent number: 5715811
Abstract: An inhaling piece 1 is formed with an inhaling mouth 3 and a holder accommodating section 2. A capsule holder 6 is formed with a capsule accommodating hole 7 and air flow passages 8, 8 which extend axially, and is further formed with pin insertion holes 10, 11 which extend diametrically and are in communication with these air flow passages 8. When a capsule 17 is accommodated in the capsule accommodating hole 7 and the pins 16 are inserted into the pin insertion holes 10, 11, through-holes H, H, . . . are formed in the capsule 17. When the patient intends to inhale medicine, inhaling is made by first returning the pins 16 to the inhaling piece 1 so that the medicine can be securely and effectively carried to the lungs of the patient under the action of air flow.
