Patent number: 5183347Abstract: An apparatus for printing images on a booklet comprises, first and second paired pinch rollers for conveying pages of the opened booklet to a printing head, located between these paired pinch rollers, a rotatable platen opposed to the printing head and located between the paired pinch rollers, guide plate for guiding one page of the opened booklet to the platen, and a press member for fixing the free end of the one page to the platen. The second paired rollers hold the other page of the booklet but may slipe the page when the free end of the one page is fixed onto the platen thereby adding tension to the other page of the booklet as the platen is rotated. The layout of the recorded images are changed and then printed on the page.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 1992Date of Patent: February 2, 1993Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Kazuhiko Higuchi, Shuzo Hirahara, Tutomu Saito, Hitoshi Nagato, Akito Iwamoto

Patent number: 5028991Abstract: A color multi-function type copying machine is disclosed which includes an image input unit for optically sensing an input image and generating an image signal. A function memory stores an ink color used in a color frame to be written in the input image in order to designate its partial image region and a specific image edit function assigned to the ink color and desired to be executed by an operator so that the ink color and the specific image edit function can be rewritten. When a closed loop-like color frame of a selected color is written in the input image, a color frame region detecting unit detects a shape and a color of the color frame. In response to the detection result, the memory is accessed to determine an image edit function corresponding to a first selected ink color of the detected color frame. A color edit unit executes one or a plurality of image signal processing corresponding to the determined image edit function for the input image signal.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1989Date of Patent: July 2, 1991Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Hidekazu Sekizawa, Akito Iwamoto, Shuzo Hirahara, Naofumi Yamamoto, Tutomu Saito, Kazuhiko Higuchi, Yuzo Koike

Patent number: 4897668Abstract: In an electrothermal printing apparatus, ink ribbon is fed in a predetermined direction and is contacted with a recording electrode and a return electrode which is located upstream of the predetermined direction with respect to the recording electrode. A signal current is supplied from the recording electrode to a conductive layer of the ink ribbon through a resistive layer and the signal current supplied to the conductive layer is supplied to the return electrode through the resistive layer. Heat is generated at a portion of the ink ribbon, which is contacted with the recording electrode and is applied to the ink layer through the conductive layer, thereby printing an ink of the ink layer to a paper.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 1988Date of Patent: January 30, 1990Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Hitoshi Nagato, Tadayoshi Ohno, Tsutomu Kanai, Akito Iwamoto

Patent number: 4827335Abstract: A color reading apparatus having a document table upon which the documents to be read are placed. The document table is formed of transparent glass which is illuminated by a light source, the light source being driven by a light source driver. An image of a document to be read is focused on an image sensor through a focusing lens and through first and second color separation filters. Each of the color separation filters have first and second filter elements which are formed on a transparent substrate and are aligned in the direction from which a photosensor array of the image sensor performs scanning. The image sensor is driven by a CCD driver and generates an image signal corresponding to the focused image. The CCD driver is controlled by a control circuit which is connected to a reference clock. The image signal output from the image sensor is amplified by an amplifier and converted to a digital signal by an A/D converter. The digital signal is then supplied to an image signal processing circuit.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1987Date of Patent: May 2, 1989Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Tutomu Saito, Akito Iwamoto

Patent number: 4675727Abstract: An optical document reading apparatus which minimizes color moire phenomenon effects including an optical imaging system, and a line image sensor having sensor elements arranged in a line and color filter elements disposed on the sensor elements. A plurality of sensor elements are assigned to one pixel of said document, and the line image sensor senses light reflected from the document through the optical imaging system. The apparatus has a magnification condition which is determined from a distance between the document and the optical imaging system and a distance between the optical imaging system and the image sensor. The magnification is selected to be such that the optical imaging system does not precisely image the document onto the image sensor.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1985Date of Patent: June 23, 1987Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Hidekazu Sekizawa, Akito Iwamoto

Patent number: 4661843Abstract: A color copying apparatus includes a color image sensor, an image information signal processing unit, and a color printer. The apparatus converts the three color component signals from the color image sensor into a luminance signal component and color difference signal components. At least one of the luminance signal component and the color difference signal components is subject to a nonlinear conversion. For density conversion between an input image and an output image, the luminance signal component is subject to a nonlinear conversion in a nonlinear conversion circuit.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 1985Date of Patent: April 28, 1987Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Hidekazu Sekizawa, Akito Iwamoto, Naofumi Yamamoto, Hitoshi Yoneda

Patent number: 4560280Abstract: The distance between first and second grating-like structures such as a shadow mask and a faceplate of a color picture tube or the size of pattern elements of the second grating-like structure such as black stripes formed on the inner surface of the faceplate is optically measured. The shadow mask has a periodic pattern of apertures or slots and the faceplate has a periodic pattern of the black stripes. An optical system located between a light source and an assembly of the first and second grating-like structures applies parallel rays of light to the assembly and is arranged to vary an incident angle of the parallel rays to the assembly. A photodetector detects the quantity of light passed through the assembly to produce an electric signal whose amplitude periodically varies with variation in the incident angle of the parallel rays to the assembly.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 1983Date of Patent: December 24, 1985Assignee: Tokyo Shibaura Denki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Akito Iwamoto, Hidekazu Sekizawa

Patent number: 4510866Abstract: In an apparatus which measures an area factor of an image portion of an image-bearing member, such as a printing plate used in an offset press, having image and non-image portions with different reflectivities, a single light source and a single photoelectric conversion element are used for measuring reflected light from the image-bearing member by optically scanning the image-bearing member. An arithmetic operation unit is provided so that the reflected light data are measured on the basis of electrical signals from the photoelectric conversion element each time a light beam moves for a unit distance in the X axis direction of the image-bearing member, and the corresponding reflected light data are added in the Y axis direction to obtain area data for each unit region in the X axis direction.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1982Date of Patent: April 16, 1985Assignees: Tokyo Shibaura Denki Kabushiki Kaisha, Toshiba Machine Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hidekazu Sekizawa, Akito Iwamoto, Kousaku Togashi, Hideo Fujie
