  • Patent number: 4437826
Abstract: The present invention concerns a device for shaping and forming a rice body for a rolled sushi dish. The device comprises a base member provided with a plurality of semi-cylindrical notches in a parallel arrangement, a push cover member constructed in a similar but symmetrical form to the base member, a cylindrical frame member of the size into which the above two members can be horizontally inserted, and a ram member of the size engageable with inside of the frame and provided on the lower side thereof with plural projections in a parallel arrangement. The device is used by inserting the base member having plural semi-cylindrical notches from below into the frame for engagement, placing a suitable amount of vinegared rice (sushi-meshi) into the cylindrical frame, fitting the ram member from above into the frame to make a dent upon the surface of the vinegared rice, placing such suitable ingredients as pieces of tuna, ham, cucumber, etc.

  • Patent number: 4247564
Abstract: This invention relates to a package for an elongated rice-ball or bread and butter comestible together with a laver in an isolated manner until the comestible is wrapped with the laver. The package includes a long moisture-proof sheet such as vinyl or paraffin-coated paper doubled by folding it at the center thereof. The leading edge of the folded back surface may be again folded back in the opposite direction to form a short tongue. The comestible is placed on the single-layered end portion of the sheet and a laver is interposed between the juxtaposed portions of the sheet. The comestible can be wrapped together with the laver without laver becoming moist and the laver can be removed from between the juxtaposed portions of the sheet and wrapped around the comestible.

  • Patent number: 4230728
Abstract: A package for temporarily hand-packing a rice-ball of triangular shape together with a sheet of dry laver until the former is field-wrapped with the latter so as to prepare a laver-wrapped rice-ball or "Onigiri". The package includes a packing sheet of square shape folded along a fold extending through a pair of opposite angles to form a pair of folded sheets of equilateral triangular shape for holding the dry laver inbetween. The packing sheet is made of a moisture-proof material such as paraffine paper or vinyl sheet. Further inclusive is a pull-out sheet which extends from one of the vertical angle portions of the folded sheets and which is folded back toward the fold of the packing sheet. The pull-out sheet thus provided is sized to have such a sufficient margin, when the rice-ball is placed thereon for the temporary hand-packing operation, as can facilitate its hand pull-out operation at its margin before the rice-ball is wrapped with the dry laver.
