  • Patent number: 5741355
Abstract: The present invention provides a pearlescent pigment, which solves the problems such as development of yellow color at mass tone angle or shade side and non-clearness of interference colors. The pearlescent pigment coated with a metal oxide on a synthetic mica of the present invention is characterized in that said synthetic mica has average refractive index of not more than 1.58, surface of synthetic mica particles is smoothened and made flaky, and iron content in the synthetic mica is not higher than 1.0%.

  • Patent number: 5320674
Abstract: A composite synthetic mica powder having an excellent ultraviolet ray screening effect, the composite synthetic mica powder comprising a fine particle layer (B) containing one or more types of elements selected from the group of Te, Bi, Pb, Ce, Fe, Mo, Nb, W, Sb, Sn, V, Mn, Ni, Co, Zn and Ti is formed on the surface of scale-like mica particles (A). The covering ratio of particles (A) by particles (B) is in the range of 0.5 to 1; the ratio of particle size of the particles (B) to plane direction diameter of the particles (A) is 0.1 or less; and particle size of the particles (A) is 1 to 100 .mu.m. Also, a red synthetic mica which develops light-resistant red color closer to the color of human skin and ultraviolet rays, a method for manufacturing the same, and an ultraviolet ray screening agent which contains the synthetic mica. The synthetic mica is expressed by the following formula (I):X.sub.1/3.about.1 Y.sub.2.about.3 (Z.sub.4 O.sub.10)F.sub.2.times.0.75.about.2.times.0.

  • Patent number: 5094852
Abstract: The present invention concerns synthetic mica powder containing from 75 to 99% of the stoichiometrical composition of fluorine and/or having a shape in which the end face of particle is laminated, process for producing such synthetic mica powder, as well as cosmetics having synthetic mica powder blended therewith, in which the synthetic mica powder shows no leaching of fluorine ions and/or improved hold of oils due to lamination at the surface of powder. Accordingly, in this invention, cosmetics excellent in extensibility, gloss, adherence and modability, having appearance of high chroma and of high stability and safety can be obtained.
