  • Publication number: 20240155148
Abstract: Video encoding and decoding is implemented with auto encoders using luminance information to derive motion information for chrominance prediction. In one embodiment YUV 4:2:0 video is encoded and decoded in which luminance information is downsampled to generate predictions from chrominance components of a reference frame. In a related embodiment, more than one reference frame is used for predictions. In another embodiment, convolutions and transpose convolutions implement derivation of motion information.

  • Publication number: 20230396801
Abstract: Processing of a compressed representation of a video signal is optimized for multiple tasks, such as object detection, viewing of displayed video, or other machine tasks. In one embodiment, multiple analysis stages and a single synthesis is performed as part of a coding/decoding operation with training of an encoder side analysis and, optionally, a corresponding machine task. In another embodiment, multiple synthesis operations are performed on the decoding side, so that respective analysis, synthesis, and task stages are optimized. Other embodiments comprise feeding decoded feature maps to tasks, predictive coding, and using hyperprior-based models.

  • Patent number: 10616653
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method (1100) and apparatus (702) for inhibiting the interruption of the content being consumed by a user that is provided by an entertainment system. The method (1100) and apparatus (702) of the present disclosure may detect an interruption event and determine, based on the current state of a user, whether the interruption event matches the current state of the user. If the method (1100) and apparatus (702) of the present disclosure determine that the interruption event does not match the current state of the user, the method (1100) and apparatus (702) of the present disclosure may inhibit the interruption of the content being consumed by the user.

  • Publication number: 20190122031
Abstract: The present disclosure provides devices, systems, and methods for providing privacy-preserving security using dormant computing power within a dwelling or building. In one aspect of the present disclosure, the devices, systems, and methods include a processor that receives at least one image captured within a premises, detects at least one face in the at least one image, determines if the detected at least one face matches at least one known face in a database and, if the detected at least one face does not match a known face, transmits a notification to at least one second device. In another aspect of the present disclosure, the processor determines a number of unique faces present in the at least one image and, if the determined number of unique faces is above a limit, transmits a notification to at least one second device.

  • Publication number: 20190005042
Abstract: Efficient techniques are provided for ensuring the privacy of users while receiving recommendations in the presence of others, or when other people besides the user are receiving the recommendations while using the user's device. The presence of other people is determined based on data from at least one sensor. A recommendation is provided based on the determined presence of the other people. If no other person besides the user is determined to be present, a personalized recommendation may be provided. If, however, another person besides the user is determined to be present, an alternative recommendation such as a generic or an obscured recommendation may be provided. The alternative recommendation may be customized and/or pre-selected by the user. A method (300), apparatus (400, 260-1, 205), computer-readable storage medium and non-transitory computer-readable program product are provided for providing a recommendation.

  • Publication number: 20180367845
Abstract: Interactions with a multimedia content provider are tracked and communication is made with a physical activity tracking device to obtain movement information. The interactions and physical activity level provide insight as to a length of time a user has been continuously watching multimedia content. When a level of inactivity exceeds a threshold, access to multimedia content is adjusted, for example, by limiting access to the multimedia content and/or displaying a notification to the user regarding their level of inactivity.

  • Publication number: 20180352354
Abstract: The present principles generally relate to detection and analysis of sound events in a user's environment to automate changes to a multi-media player's state or action. The multimedia player characterizes ambient sound that it receives. The state or the action of the multimedia player is adaptively initiated or changed according to the characterization of the ambient sound and the location of the player, thus allowing adaptive adjustment of the sound of the audio/video content.

  • Publication number: 20180342109
Abstract: A method to determine a body pose of a user in a virtual reality or augmented reality system includes acquiring sensor data from a plurality of sensors in a garment worn by a user. The sensor data is processed to generate a processed sensor data set, wherein the processed sensor data set is scaled for the size of the user. The processed sensor data set is converted to a pose data set. The pose vector data set is then used by a viewer device to render the body pose of the user.

  • Publication number: 20170127106
Abstract: A method for recommending content from among a collection of available content includes determining for each of available content at least one of a first, second and third content ratings related to (1) content characteristics that interfere with sleep patterns; (2) excitement level of the content; and (3) dynamic range of content audio, respectively. Thereafter, the content having a content rating that least interfere with sleep patterns is established. The available content having the content rating that least interferes with sleep patterns is recommended.
