  • Patent number: 5897082
Abstract: A fastener assembly with a raised portion holding a nail at an oblique angle for attaching a pipe to a substrate. A curved portion is attached to a substantially planar portion having a raised portion with a hole therein. The hole is eccentrically formed within the raised portion such that when a nail is held perpendicular to a substrate, the substantially planar portion is raised off of the substantially planar substrate. The curved portion is formed to compliment the outer circumference of a pipe. When driven by a power actuated gun, the substantially planar portion is driven downward in contact with the substrate, forcing the curved portion to snugly retain the pipe. The fastener assembly securely holds a pipe and is used in many different construction applications where pipes, conduits, wires or other like devices must be securely held.

  • Patent number: 5788444
Abstract: A fastener assembly having a stud frictionally retained within a plate. The stud having a head at one end and a point or taper at the other end. The stud having a first shank portion with a large diameter adjacent the head and a second shank portion with a smaller diameter adjacent the tapered or pointed end. The larger diameter first shank portion being frictionally or press fit into an aperture formed in the plate or washer. The plate or washer may have a flat, conical, curved, or channeled shape with a conical raised portion thereon so as to hold the fastener a relatively long longitudinal distance up along the shaft or shank of the stud. The transitional shoulder between the different diameters of the shank may be square, angled or round. The use of different diameter portions improves penetrating and holding power of the fastener assembly while permitting relatively easy penetration of a substrate.

  • Patent number: 5634756
Abstract: A power actuated fastener assembly for use with a power actuated gun having a broad bearing surface and a raised portion for holding a stud and raising the pointed end above the bearing surface. The raised portion or cone shape forms a gap that widens from the point of the shank to the bearing surface. This creates a stable fastener assembly and raises the pointed end of the stud at or near the bearing surface of the fastener assembly. The fastener assembly can be driven in a single step with a power actuated gun without the necessity of partially driving the fastener assembly into the structure being fastened into a masonry surface. Additionally, the raised portion or cone shaped portion automatically strips away or breaks the plastic fluting commonly associated with such fasteners and is often undesirable compressed under the head of such fasteners. Thereby, a safer, more efficient power actuated fastener is obtained.

  • Patent number: 5178503
Abstract: A fastener assembly for use with a power actuated gun including a bracket and associated stud wherein the bracket is formed with at least two fingers extending upward therefrom. The fingers are formed so as to permit the fastener assembly to be frictionally held within the bore of the power actuated gun. The support for the studs and fingers are configured to readily collapse when the stud is driven into a support structure, causing the head end portion of the stud to be made flush against the bracket and causing the fingers to occupy the space from whence they were formed. Another embodiment has a flat surface on a curved bracket to assist in stabilizing the barrel of a power actuated gun.

  • Patent number: 4439079
Abstract: An anchor assembly for use on a wall to support a fixture or load thereon which includes an elongated anchor plate sized to be received in a hole formed in a wall and which in the operative position abutts the blind side of the wall. A pair of flexible leg members are hingedly connected to the anchor plate in a manner to control the positioning of the anchor plate on the blind side of the wall, and having a slip collar slidably mounted on the leg members whereby the collar is ratcheted along the leg member in a unidirectional manner to firmly secure the anchor plate to the blind side of the wall and whereby the collar can be readily released to render it freely slidable along the leg members to facilitate assembly and removal of the anchor assembly.
