  • Publication number: 20180206278
Abstract: A method for enabling establishment of at least one Packet Data Network (PDN) connection between a wireless communication device and a communication network, and a wireless communication device performing the method of enabling establishment of at least one PDN connection with a communication network. The method comprises detecting whether connectivity to an Information Centric Networking (ICN) network is available via the at least one PDN connection for transporting ICN data.

  • Publication number: 20170257904
Abstract: An access node (620) of the cellular network determines a correlation of an identifier of a user equipment (610) with an entry of a Pending Interest Table maintained by an Information Centric Networking node (670). The Pending Interest Table comprises an entry for each data object having a pending Information Centric Networking request (801) at the Information Centric Networking node (670). Based on the correlation, the access node (620) controls a connection of the user equipment (610) with the cellular network. This may involve deciding whether to release the user equipment (610) to idle mode or paging of the user equipment (610).

  • Publication number: 20170257802
Abstract: An access node (20) of a cellular network receives an information centric networking request of a user equipment (10) for a data object. The access node forwards the information centric networking request to a local gateway (30) associated with the access node (20). The local gateway (30) maintains a pending interest table including an entry for each data object having a pending information centric networking request at the local gateway (30). In response to the user equipment (10) moving from a coverage area of the access node (20) to a coverage area of a further access node (21), the access node (20) and the further access node (21) perform a handover procedure. The further access node (21) is associated with a further local gateway (31) maintaining a further pending interest table. The further pending interest table includes an entry for each data object having a pending information centric networking request at the further local gateway (31).

  • Publication number: 20050025182
Abstract: A coupler for use with a provided terminal, the terminal being operative with a first network, the coupler including a monitor for monitoring the terminal to detect communication suitable for a second network and including a bridge for conveying the communication via a second network having a protocol not used with the first network.

  • Publication number: 20050025181
Abstract: A service advisor detects the availability of a wireless communication service, communication being consistent with one or more protocols (e.g., IEEE 802.11 MAC layer) each having a plurality of packet formats. The service advisor includes an interface, a receiver, and an engine. The interface couples the service advisor to a provided consumer electronics product-(e.g., a cell phone or personal digital assistant (PDA)) having an annunciator (e.g., a display, speaker, or vibrator). The receiver receives communication by scanning a plurality of channels. The engine, coupled to the receiver and to the product via the interface, recognizes in response to the communication, only a limited set of packet formats of the plurality of formats; determines, from a packet having a format of the set, indicia of an available service; and facilitates operation of the annunciator in accordance with the indicia of available service.

  • Patent number: 6104725
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for broadband data service transmission in telecommunication system. The invention aims at implementing bridges in public ATM network, by which public data communication services can be used by private, local networks LAN. The bridges make use of a connectionless data service function by means of broadband data service servers (BDS). The ATM network uses the protocol AAL5. According to the invention the transmission can by that be made without buffering. Preferably respective local network is connected via only one BDS server and the transmission in the BDS network is in streaming mode.

  • Patent number: 5892763
Abstract: An arrangement for supplying local network emulation services over a broad connectionless ATM-network. The ATM-network is in charge of connectionless data communication traffic by a broadband data service network. Private local networks can be connected to the ATM-network to exchange traffic with other local networks. The ATM-network emulates local networks so that the ATM-network can deal with the local network traffic. The broadband data service network includes servers which function as address resolvers for local network addresses and as local network relays for routing local network traffic via the ATM-network. The server uses unit specific addresses and local emulation groups as addresses.
