  • Patent number: 8423268
Abstract: A device (D) is dedicated to controlling the operation of an internal combustion engine (M) including at least two cylinders (Ci), each equipped with at least one inlet valve (SA) and at least one injector (IJ), and of the so-called indirect and sequential fuel injection type. This device (D) includes detection elements (MD) designed to detect an injection event phasing error relative to reference angular positions specific to the various cylinders (Ci), and control elements (MC) designed to rephase, if a phasing error of a cylinder (Ci) is detected, the command to open the injector (IJ) of this cylinder (Ci) after closure of the inlet valve (SA).

  • Publication number: 20070157904
Abstract: A device for monitoring the fuel pressure in the fuel feed circuit (7) of a fuel injection internal combustion engine (2), which includes at least one cylinder (2) and one exhaust line (6) for the combustion gases, characterized in that the device includes elements (8) for generating a value for measuring the fuel/air ratio of the exhaust gases in the exhaust line (6), elements (9) for generating a value for measuring the fresh air flow rate into the cylinder (2), elements (10) determining the mechanical opening time of the injector (4), and computation elements (1) for determining a reconstituted fuel pressure value from the value for measuring the fuel/air ratio of the exhaust gases, from the value for measuring the fresh air flow rate and from the mechanical opening time of the injector.

  • Patent number: 6755181
Abstract: The invention concerns a method which consists in using an injector supplied with fuel whereof the pressure (Pcarb) is an increasing function of the amount of fuel (Q) to be injected, the opening of the injector being electromagnetically triggered by energizing the electric coil integral with the injector with a current peak of predetermined duration (T1). The invention is characterized in that the duration (T1) of the current peak in an increasing function of the pressure (Pcarb) of the fuel. Thus, the dynamics of the injector is increased.

  • Patent number: 6708661
Abstract: During the starting, a) the temperature (T) of the engine and the pressure (P) of the fuel delivered by said pressurizing means are monitored, b) if T is below a predetermined threshold temperature (Ts), an engine starting mode is established in which the engine is started with fuel at high pressure as soon as the pressure (P) becomes higher than a predetermined threshold pressure (Ps1), and c) an engine starting mode is established where the engine is started using fuel at low pressure if T>Ts.

  • Patent number: 6705295
Abstract: The injectors (6i) allocated to the cylinders are supplied with fuel by a common injection train and their opening time is calculated and controlled by a computer. According to the invention, a) any possible overlap in the opening time of at least two injectors (6i) is detected, b) in the absence of an overlap, the fuel pressure in the train outside the opening time of the injector concerned is determined, c) if an overlap is present, the pressure of the fuel when the injector concerned is opened is determined and d) the measurement established is corrected according to a predetermined variation in the pressure of the fuel caused by the injector(s) opening.

  • Patent number: 5992381
Abstract: A process to determine an optimal richness of a fuel-air mixture supplied to an internal combustion engine. The engine has a speed regulator capable of varying an opening angle of a valve for admitting the fuel-air mixture into the engine to maintain the engine at a constant rotational speed. The process begins by supplying an initial fuel-air mixture to the engine. A rotational speed of the engine is regulated by acting on a position of a valve controlling the admittance of the initial fuel-air mixture and, therefore, the fuel-air mixture affects the rotational speed. A plurality of jumps in the richness of the fuel-air mixture which is supplied to the engine act on the position of the valve. Variations in the position of the valve corresponding to each of the jumps in richness in the initial fuel-air mixture are then measured.

  • Patent number: 5619966
Abstract: The speed of an internal combustion engine is monitored during the entry thereof into low-idle speed operation. The engine speed can thereby be slaved to a predetermined reference point value. When a predetermined engine condition occurs which is considered to require the engine to switch to idling speed, the set speed of the engine is forced downwardly according to a predetermined time law. The set speed thereby shifts towards the predetermine idling speed.
