  • Patent number: 6668987
Abstract: A shock absorber for a motor vehicle includes a compression valve having one or more deflectable discs mounted on the piston on the rebound chamber side. It also includes a rebound stroke valve having one or more deflectable discs mounted on the piston on the compression chamber side. The deflectable discs of the compression stroke valve have fluid flow apertures aligned with the rebound flow passage. The compression stroke valve also has an annular stop member and an annular orientation disc positioned between the stop member and the deflectable discs on the side of the deflectable discs remote from the piston. The stop member and the orientation disc have fluid flow apertures aligned with fluid flow apertures in the deflectable discs. An orientation disc has a pin folded therefrom and extending in a direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis, the pin extending through corresponding apertures formed in the deflectable discs into a corresponding slot formed in the piston.

  • Patent number: 6116388
Abstract: A shock absorber for a motor vehicle includes a compression stoke valve having one or more deflectable discs mounted on the piston on the rebound chamber side and a rebound stroke valve having one or more deflectable discs mounted on the piston on the compression chamber side. A compression flow passage extends through the piston, opening at one end into the compression chamber and having an opening at the other end into the rebound chamber which is closable by the deflectable disc or discs of the compression stroke valve. A rebound flow passage extends through the piston, opening at one end into the rebound chamber and having an opening at the other end into the compression chamber which is closable by the deflectable disc or discs of the rebound stroke valve. One or both valves further includes a flexible disc positioned between the deflectable disc or discs and the piston and extending partly across the associated passage to leave an opening in the passage.

  • Patent number: 5531299
Abstract: An obturator device for a pressurized hydraulic damper tube of the single tube type in which slides a piston having an axial piston rod. The obturator device includes a plug, a seal, a fixing mechanism and a cylindrical guide whose central opening guides axial movement of the piston rod. The guide has a guide base and an axial peripheral wall defining a circular housing for supporting and centering the seal and the plug. The seal and plug can be fully received with the circular housing in one embodiment of the invention. The base has a plurality of perforations arranged along a circular path positioned at the bottom of an annular groove formed in the base's upper side. The plug has a central opening whose diameter is greater than the diameter of the piston rod of the tube to define a radial clearance preventing mechanical contact between the plug and the piston rod during operation of the damper.
