  • Patent number: 9457779
Abstract: A primary piston component for a master cylinder of a hydraulic brake system includes a primary piston housing and an additional piston component, which is configured to be at least partially movable into a cavity of the primary piston housing. An inner piston body extends through the cavity along a central line of the primary piston component. A braking force applied on a brake actuating element is transferable at least partially on the inner piston body, and further on the primary piston housing. The additional piston component is at least partially movable into the cavity between the inner piston body and the primary piston housing, and a brake booster force is transferable at least partially on the additional piston component, and via the inner piston body on the primary piston housing. A method of operating a hydraulic brake system is also described.

  • Patent number: 8262171
Abstract: In order to allow a single operator on a vehicle assembly line to attach a brake servo to a bulkhead by moving round from the engine compartment side to the passenger compartment side, a brake servo is fitted with an adhesive and insulating seal (14). This seal has two adhesive faces and each of the two adhesive faces has a protective film provided with a tab (15, 16); each protective film is of a distinctive color. One of the two protective films has cuts (17) along holes (10) in the seal, these cuts being intended to make it easier for the protective film to be removed as the brake servo is mounted against the bulkhead.

  • Publication number: 20110185766
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing very low temperature cold through a dilution cycle wherein a two-phase mixture of the two isotopes 3He and 4He is created in a mixing chamber from liquid 3He and 4He added separately, wherein said mixture of the 3He from a so-called concentrated phase is extracted so as to pass 3He into a so-called diluted phase, and due to which the cold energy generated by passing the 3He into the diluted phase is recovered, the phase separation of the two-phase mixture being carried out by monitoring the flows of pure 3He and 4He, added separately into the mixing chamber, and by gravity-independent capillary forces, the dilution cycle operating in a closed loop, the method including a first step of recovering and separating the two isotopes 3He and 4He from the fraction of the mixture extracted through a discharge duct; and a second step of adding the two isotopes 3He and 4He, separated during the first step, back into the mixing chamber.

  • Patent number: 6813840
Abstract: The device comprises a target member (4) and a support (1) for supporting the target member. The support includes a receptacle head (12) for the target member, including a housing (15) open to the outside via an outwardly flared frustoconical seat (16). The target member includes a flange (42) having a spherical annular lateral surface adapted to bear tangentially against the seat (16), and a plate (45) upstanding perpendicularly on the flange in an equatorial plane an imaginary sphere (44) of which the lateral surface of the spherical annular flange is part. The plate has two parallel plane retroreflecting faces and a hole (46) passing completely through it and centered on an axis perpendicular to the faces of the plate and passing through the center of the spherical surface, and the hole is open at both ends via a bevel (461).

  • Publication number: 20040112438
Abstract: An electrical switch for a level detection device in a functional fluid container (12) of a motor vehicle brake system, comprises two electrically conductive terminals (32, 34) and a first reed bulb (36), forming a dipole electrically connected to the two conductive terminals (32, 34). The reed bulb (36) is capable of occupying two states, one open and one closed, each state depending on whether the situation is normal or exceptional.

  • Patent number: 5965068
Abstract: A reversible housing for a humidifier of the type for attachment to the ducts of a forced air heating system. The housing includes a sheet forming a back wall, a pair of side walls and a top wall integrally hinged to the back wall and pivotable through one-half turn with respect to the latter so as to take two operative positions both protruding forwardly of the back wall depending which one of the back wall faces is disposed flat against the duct. The back wall has a central air passage opening bordered with flanges protruding from each of the back wall faces to connect with a duct opening. One of the side walls has a second air passage with flanges protruding from each of its two faces to selectively connect with a by-pass duct to the left or to the right of the housing. An angular cover and a water tray completes the housing and fit the sheet in either one of its two operative positions. A screwdriver is only required to secure the sheet in either one of its operative positions.

  • Patent number: 4991401
Abstract: Process and apparatus for obtaining very low temperatures by making use of the endothermic dissolution of 3He in 4He. A mixing box placed in a vacuum enclosure cooled to approximately 2.degree. K. or less receives continuously liquid 3He and 4He via separate conduits. The solution produced is extracted therefrom via a third conduit at a rate such that, bearing in mind the diameter of the conduit, 3He cannot diffuse countercurrentwise in the solution sufficiently to raise appreciably the content of 3He in the liquid 4He introduced and to reduce the dissolution in this 4He of the liquid 3He introduced simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 4183616
Abstract: Method for connecting two groups of optical fibres provided with a sheath or protection coating and connector for effecting this method. The unstripped optical fibres of each group are located in longitudinal grooves in a support piece of a respective connector, with the ends of the fibres extending beyond the end of each support piece; the optical fibres are retained in the grooves in each support piece; the ends of the fibres extending beyond each support piece are stripped; the optical fibres are slided in said grooves into a position where parts of the stripped ends occupy respective parts of the grooves; the unstripped and stripped portions of the optical fibres are locked in this position; the end plane of each support-fibre assembly is polished and the two connectors are joined together.
