  • Patent number: 7953026
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for providing address information for nodes when multiple possibilities exist. For example, in a TISPAN environment the described techniques can be used to transmit address information to an SPDF when it needs to determine which of multiple A-RACFs associated with different IP domains that the SPDF needs to communicate with.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 27, 2007
Date of Patent: May 31, 2011
Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)

  • Publication number: 20090019469
Abstract: Systems and methods according to the present invention address this need and others by updating the channel filtering information, e.g., whitelist, within the context of a streaming media system, e.g., an IMS-IPTV system. This updating of the channel filtering information occurs automatically through messages transmitted between a network node and an Internet Protocol television (IPTV) control function including intervening hardware.

  • Patent number: 6081705
Abstract: TIA IS-136 specifies the assignment to mobile stations of a unique international mobile station identification (IMSI) in addition to a mobile identification number (MIN). The IMSI number is communicated from the mobile station to the network, and is processed by the network to provide for non-ambiguous subscriber identification. Accordingly, the IMSI number is transmitted by the mobile station during registration, and processed during authentication to insure accurate and unique subscriber identification. Once registered with an IMSI instead of a MIN, the network utilizes the IMSI during subsequent call handling to insure, for example, proper call delivery and handoff.

  • Patent number: 5920822
Abstract: Air interface independent bearer data is provided in short message service delivery point-to-point (SMSDPP) invoke communications. The bearer data of the SMSDPP invoke communication includes a portion formatted for each of the different types of cellular network supported air interfaces. The particular portion of the bearer data corresponding to the air interface currently being used by that addressee mobile station is then processed to recover the included short message service message. Alternatively, the bearer data of the SMSDPP invoke communication is generically formatted, with the generic bearer data converted by the cellular network to be compatible with the specific one of the plurality of different types of air interfaces supported by the cellular telephone network based on an identification made by the cellular telephone system as to which air interface is currently being used by the addressee mobile station.

  • Patent number: 5797094
Abstract: A cellular communications system including a mobile station that shifts periodically between a stand-by operating mode where communications are possible and a deep sleep operating mode wherein communications are impossible and battery power is conserved. Thus, while the mobile station is in deep sleep mode, message transmissions to the mobile station are impossible. The messages are, however, stored for later delivery, and a record of the stored, undelivered messages is maintained for future access. When the mobile station emerges from deep sleep, the maintained message record is checked, and the stored messages for the awakened mobile station are retrieved and delivered.

  • Patent number: 5369681
Abstract: A system for paging mobile stations within a cellular telecommunication system wherein paging areas, which are composed of a plurality of location areas, are created to provide a means for locating a mobile station when the mobile station has not responded to a location area page and without requiring a service area page. The system sends a page request to the location area where the desired mobile station last registered. If a response is not received, the system sends a page request to the paging area which includes a plurality of location areas where the mobile station is likely to be found. If a page response is still not received from the desired mobile station, then a page request will be sent to all of the location areas within the service area.
