  • Patent number: 6218041
Abstract: A battery unit may be used in devices and appliances in which a particularly light and flat battery is desired, such as in particular portable telephones. The battery unit has a housing in which one or several cells generating electricity are provided, such as, for example, a lithium polymer cell. The battery unit is provided with output contacts by means of which the cells can be electrically connected to an appliance, for example by means of resilient contacts present in the appliance. The battery unit is further provided with a housing having a number of external walls such as an upper wall, a bottom wall, and side walls. The housing is internally provided with a substantially flat frame with flat ribs for the purpose of reinforcement and one or several recesses between them. The cell or cells is (are) provided in a recess, possibly in several respective recesses, of the frame.

  • Patent number: 6009315
Abstract: An electronic card reader for portable telephones is disclosed for reading an identification card and a micro-card. The identification card reader has a wall with a card supporting side and positioning lugs. A connector is provided having contact terminals which protrude from the card supporting side through an opening in the wall to contact pins of the identification card or the micro-card. A cover presses the identification card or the micro-card against the card supporting side. The positioning lugs are retracted in the card supporting side when the identification card is over the card supporting side, and protrude beyond the card supporting side when the micro-card is over the card supporting side so as to laterally surround the micro-card.

  • Patent number: 5831256
Abstract: A portable telephone includes an electronic card reader for reading Micro SIM cards of different formats. The reader has a wall with a card supporting side and a connector whose resilient contact terminals protrude from the supporting side through an opening. For holding a small-format card in the reading position, the wall has a recess for receiving the small-format card while the card is in contact with the contact terminals of the connector, in the lower portion of which recess is accommodated a sheet steel adapter integral with the wall, which an adapter has a clearance in a normal direction to the wall at least equal to the thickness of the small-format card and has a hole opposite the opening.
