  • Patent number: 4321658
Abstract: A headlamp has a shell containing a bulb and reflector. The shell has a front opening which is closed by a glass front lens, and a planar plastics protective screen. If the lens should be broken, the screen will normally prevent broken glass and other contaminants from reaching and damaging the reflector.

  • Patent number: 4293897
Abstract: A motor vehicle headlight having a casing containing a pivotally mounted reflector which is pivoted in response to movement of a piston rod of a hydraulic piston and cylinder unit at an end of a hydraulic remote control system. The casing has an opening so positioned that when the unit is fitted therein the piston rod can easily engage a force transmission arrangement acting on a periphery of the reflector to pivot it when the rod is moved.

  • Patent number: 4264944
Abstract: A headlamp assembly comprises an optical unit adjustable mounted within an outer shell (24), which may in some cases be part of the vehicle bodywork. The optical unit comprises a reflector (10), a lens (not shown) permanently bonded to the front of the reflector, a main lamp (20), and a side-light bulb (54) in a lamp-holder (14). The rear of the outer shell (24) is closed by a one-piece seal (30) molded in an elastomer, which seal has a central portion (34) which lies against the rear of the reflector (10), to seal off the space between the shell and the reflector from the electrical connections to the lamps (20, 54). The side-light holder (14) is mounted from the rear in a passage (50) in a thickened portion (48) of the seal (30). The central portion (34) of the seal is connected to the portion (32) connecting the seal to the shell (24) by a flexible re-entrant sleeve or bellows portion (36, 38), which accommodates adjusting movements of the optical unit.

  • Patent number: 4193659
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for ensuring the mechanical and electrical connection of an automobile headlamp, comprising at least one flat connecting pin, to a flexible printed supply circuit, said device comprising, for each pin of the lamp to be connected, a clip constituted by two homologous parts connected by a hinge and adapted to cooperate with each other along a plane of tightening, these two homologous parts comprising on their inner face means for positioning the pin inside the clip, means for retaining the printed circuit inside the clip, means for closing the clip ensuring its tightening so that the printed circuit is applied along the whole length of the pin of the lamp. The invention is more particularly applied to all automobile headlamps.
