  • Patent number: 6402467
Abstract: An impeller is disclosed including a number of vanes, first and second coaxial disks formed from composite material on opposite sides of the vanes to fix the vanes in position, so that the impeller can rotate on an axis of rotation, and at least one reinforcing collar disposed coaxially with and adjacent to the axis of rotation to provide an interior collar, the at least one reinforcing collar comprising reinforcing fibers, such as carbon fibers.

  • Patent number: 6290889
Abstract: A process for producing a hollow article made of a composite material of reinforcing fibers embedded in a matrix of hot-polymerized resin includes a step in which at least one core made of a silicone elastomer is draped with at least one layer of resin-impregnated reinforcing fibers. A resultant assembly is moulded to shape the internal and external surfaces of the hollow article by simultaneous inward and outward compression of at least one resin-impregnated fiber layer caused by movement of mould walls towards each other and by thermal expansion of at least one core.

  • Patent number: 5839541
Abstract: A device for lowering a load along a metal band (2) comprises a brake housing (4) accommodating a brake mechanism with at least one brake shoe (14, 16, 34, 36, 54, 56 74, 76) which acts on the metal band (2). The brake shoe (14, 16, 34, 36, 54, 56, 74, 76) is pressed against the metal band (2) by a force which depends on the mass or load. The load is suspended from a load wedge (17, 37, 57, 77) which, in the brake mechanism converts a pull substantially in the longitudinal direction of the metal band (2) to a pressure acting on the metal band (2) through said brake shoe (14, 16, 34, 36, 54, 56, 74, 76).

  • Patent number: 5232104
Abstract: A removably mountable front to be mounted on a display unit. This mountable front comprises at least two sides joining each other at an acute angle as to form therebetween, a V-shaped removably mountable front. One of the sides is releasably attachable onto a display unit. Many embodiments are disclosed. One has a pair of rectangular-triangularly shaped sidewalls, a large wall, a front wall and a smallest wall. The hypotenuse of the sidewalls define the edge for receiving the front wall of the mountable front. The large size of said triangularly shaped sidewalls defines the edges common to the large wall. The small side of the triangularly shaped sidewalls defines the edges common to the smallest wall of mountable front. Coupling intermediates are also disclosed for rotatably mounting a removably mountable front to a display unit.

  • Patent number: 4377427
Abstract: Locks of hair from synthetic fibers grouped into a bundle are welded and then cut by ultrasonic waves in a two step process. The fiber bundle is placed on a platform having a pointed ridge, and a component comprising the emitter and an ultrasonic tool is moved downwardly in two stages. The emitter is deactivated during the return to its upper position.

  • Patent number: 4238457
Abstract: In a process for the recovery of uranium from a wet-process phosphoric acid, comprising treating in an extraction step the preliminarily oxidized acid first with an organic solvent consisting essentially of a dialkylphosphoric acid and a trialkyphosphine oxide dissolved in an inert and unreactive organic solvent whereby there are obtained a uranium-free phosphoric acid and an organic extract consisting essentially of the solvent containing the major portion of uranium; then, in a reextraction step, separating the uranium from the organic extract as ammonium uranyl tricarbonate by reacting the organic extract with ammonium hydroxide and ammonium carbonate; and recycling the uranium-free solvent to the extraction step; an improvement comprises treating the organic extract in a reextraction apparatus having at least two stages, by (a) introducing the extract at the head of the first stage; (b) countercurrently introducing ammonia or ammonium hydroxide solution at the bottom of the first stage; the pH of the firs

  • Patent number: 3974765
Abstract: The disclosure describes a printer in which characters are moved past a sheet support on an endless belt. Hammers move from a rest position to a strike position in order to strike the characters against the sheet. The time at which the hammers are moved from their rest positions so that the characters can be accurately struck irrespective of belt speed variations by means of a strike correction circuit arrangement which includes a first sensor means positioned with respect to the endless belt for generating a synchronizing pulse in response to the movement of a reference indicator on the belt past a first predetermined position and a second sensor means associated with the endless belt for generating a check pulse in response to movement of another indicator means on the belt past a second predetermined location.
