    Abstract: An animal management system for monitoring a plurality of animals over time includes a data management subsystem and a data acquisition subsystem, which includes RF asset tags. The data acquisition acquires data concerning the animals and efficiently provides it to aspects of the system for processing. The data management subsystem determines current wellness scores for each animal of a group of animals and a period wellness score for each animal over a larger period of time. Members of the plurality of RF detector stations are positioned, at least for some, proximate to at least one water trough and at least one feed trough, and are operable to transmit data concerning the RF asset tags detected over a communication link to an asset management subsystem. Duplicate signals may be reduced, signal filtered and smoothed, and energy conserved with certain approaches taken with the RF detector stations. Other systems and devices are presented.

A synthesis algorithm accesses a soundbank to generate audio output. The soundbank has two or more levels for a first desired sound. A first level is associated with a first sample of a relatively chaotic waveform, and a second level is associated with a second sample of a relatively stable waveform. Parameter data is associated with one or more of the levels. The first sample and the second sample begin to sound at the same point in time in response to the first audio event. The audio output is based in part on the parameter data, and the second sample is continuously looped until a second audio event is detected.
