  • Patent number: 7328660
Abstract: The flexible connection device of the invention is disposed between a flexible side beam of a bogey frame and an arm of an axle-box, and wherein the stiffness of the connection is greater in the vertical direction (Z) than in the two horizontal directions (X, Y). This enables the side beam to be decoupled from the axle-box, thereby reducing the stresses at the interfaces between these parts when the bogey frame moves transversely and vertically relative to the axles. This also presents the advantage of allowing relative displacements between the side beam and the axle-box.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 29, 2004
Date of Patent: February 12, 2008
    Assignee: Alstom

  • Publication number: 20040108023
Abstract: This invention relates to a safety wheel, for a subway coach bogie, or the like, running on pneumatic tires, adapted to be interposed between a chassis of the bogie and a corresponding tire, said wheel presenting an outer peripheral zone having a braking portion as well as a guiding portion projecting radially outwardly from the braking portion, the hardness of the braking portion being much greater than the hardness of the guiding portion. This may be achieved for example by effecting a selective tempering of the braking portion by peripheral nozzles projecting a cooling liquid. This safety wheel is considerably longer lasting than those of the prior art.

  • Patent number: 6338300
Abstract: A bogie designed to be secured so that it rests on wheels and including at least two wheel axles, at least one side member extending from the axles to an at least approximately central part of the length of the bogie, and axle boxes in which the axles are mounted so that they can rotae. The side member includes at least one interchangeable elastic leaf constituting parametrizable primary suspension, made of composite material based on fibers embedded in a resin, and a region of each end of the side member is housed in a side-member sleeve resting on a respective axle box via at least one insert element.

  • Patent number: 6305297
Abstract: A railway vehicle bogie, including at least two axles, at least one side member being provided to connect the axles to a central part of the bogie. The side member is formed by an elastic blade shaped as a vertically oriented continuous flattened loop which may be made of composite material or of metal. A process for manufacturing a side member of composite material consists in winding a continuous lap of reinforcing fibers over at least one turn around two studs so as to form a loop, and polymerizing a resin-based matrix around the fibers.

  • Patent number: 6220177
Abstract: A bogie for a railway vehicle which is supported on wheels mounted on at least two axles wherein the bogie includes a chassis which includes at least one housing in the form of a tubular beam which receives a side member which connects the at least two axles. The side member is selected based upon the anticipated use of the railway vehicle to which the bogie is to be secured.

  • Patent number: 6213027
Abstract: A railway vehicle bogie made of composite material which includes at least one elongated rigid support secured in a chassis made of composite material. The support is adapted to removably receive fasteners for mounting functional elements of the bogie at a plurality of locations along the length of the support. The process includes disposing the elongated rigid support in a mold before the bogie chassis is cast.
