  • Patent number: 9249237
Abstract: The invention relates to a micro-encapsulated self-repairing polymerizable composition that comprises at least one selected polymerizable compound to be integrated into organic, inorganic or composite materials for the self-repairing of damages incurred in the use conditions thereof, characterized in that micro-encapsulated polymerizable composition is integrated alone into said materials and, after the release of the microcapsule and in the absence of a catalyst, spontaneously polymerizes in the presence of a polymerization-triggering agent that is absent in said materials but naturally occurs during the use thereof, thus repairing said damages.

  • Publication number: 20120202912
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for surface treatment of a solid substrate in which photopolymerisation and covalent grafting are performed in situ on said substrate of a biocidal copolymer, wherein steps are taken in which: a) said solid substrate is put in contact with a formulation comprising: 1—at least one monomer comprising a biocidal group, 2—at least one copolymerisable compound with said biocidal monomer comprising a multifunctional monomer or oligomer mono- di- or selected amongst acrylate, epoxide or vinyl ether monomers or oligomers, 3—at least one photoprimer selected amongst radical and/or cationic photoprimers, and 4—at least one grafting agent on said substrate, and b) photocopolymerisation and covalent grafting of the copolymers obtained are carried into effect by subjecting said formulation in contact with said solid substrate to ultraviolet radiation.

  • Patent number: 6251967
Abstract: The invention relates to antimicrobial non-cross-linked polymers which are constituted of an ester and/or amide resin to which quaternary ammonium salts are bound by a covalent bond which is potentially reactive with water, the quaternary ammonium content being at least 1 M/kg, a well as to the use thereof for the preparation of a material having antimicrobial properties and to their methods of preparation.

  • Patent number: 4904742
Abstract: Binders comprising the association of chlorinated vinyl resins and quaternary ammonium salts are resistant to corrosion, fouling, and organisms in an aqueous medium. The binders are obtained by substituting the chlorines of the polymer with a molecule having a primary or secondary amine function and a tertiary amine function, and then quaternizing the tertiary amine function by an alkyl halide. The binders thus obtained are useful in the production of coatings resistant to fouling and organisms present in an aqueous medium, of bacterial anticorrosion coatings and coatings with fungicidal properties.

  • Patent number: 4664991
Abstract: In a substance based on an electron conducting polymer, for use in a positive active material for electrochemical generators, for example, the polymer is of a one-dimensional character. The substance further comprises at least one polysulfurated chain forming a complex with the polymer.

  • Patent number: 4565848
Abstract: In this process for the dehydrochlorination of polyvinyl chloride by potassium tertiary butoxide in anhydrous tetrahydrofuran medium, the number of moles of tertiary butoxide reacted is greater than the number of CH.sub.2 CHCl units of polyvinyl chloride, this excess being directly related to the presence of oxygen in the anhydrous tetrahydrofuran and leading to a practically complete dehydrochlorination.Polyacetylenes are thus obtained the UV spectrum of which has a maximum wavelength around 450 nm and the IR spectrum of which has, in addition to the characteristic polyacetylene band at 1020 and 3020 cm.sup.-1, the characteristic highly conjugated double bond (C.dbd.C) band at 1600 cm.sup.-1 ; under certain well determined conditions and in the presence of traces of oxygen, products which are close to polyacetylene and which are soluble in polar solvents are obtained.
