  • Publication number: 20050221585
Abstract: The present disclosure relates that by modifying chip die dicing methodology to a U-groove profile from a V-groove profile by modifying the second etch step to be a dry etch instead of a wet etch results in a direct cost savings by eliminating a more expensive process step, as well as the need for stripping the developed photoresist layer. Furthermore, going to a U-groove profile accomplishes additional indirect and greater cost savings resulting from increased process throughput, improved yield, and reduced metal layer defects.

  • Patent number: 4415236
Abstract: A light-diffusing reflector for electro-optical displays, especially displays which are based on the principle of a nematic liquid crystal rotating cell, wherein the reflector is formed of a metal foil with a reflecting surface having a first surface structure determined by furrow-shaped depressions, i.e. groover disposed in a preferential direction, and wherein a second groove structure formed as secondary groover in at least two different preferential directions which do not coincide with the preferential direction of the furrow-shaped groover of the first groove structure is embossed by pressing or rolling secondary groover into the metal foil such that the reflective surface is at least approximately optically isotropic.

  • Patent number: 4355868
Abstract: The disclosed transflector consists of a transparent foil which is given an additive of a first filling material for adjusting the transmission and the reflection of light. In the preferred embodiment, a second filling material is added to the foil for establishing the scattering of the transmitted and the reflected light and a third filling material is added for producing a coarse surface which encourages eye accommodation by the observer.

  • Patent number: 4217160
Abstract: A polarizer of particularly small thickness for an electro-optically activated cell, wherein a polarization foil is provided between an adhesion layer causing the adhesion to the cell and a protective layer providing protection from external influences. The small thickness of the polarizer is achieved by the use of a particularly thin protective layer consisting of a curable lacquer of the type which is used for coating packaging foils in the foodstuffs packaging industry, thereby reducing the thickness of the polarizer provided with protective layers on both sides to much less than 50 .mu.m, without the polarizer sacrificing its outstanding resistance to chemical and mechanical influences.
