  • Patent number: 8447629
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for communicating healthcare information utilize a set of codes to communicate healthcare data in a convenient manner. A set of codes each corresponding to respective healthcare data is generated. The set of codes is stored in a memory associated with a portable terminal. Selection of at least one code corresponding to healthcare data relevant to a patient is detected, where after the selected at least one code is wirelessly transmitted to a recipient.

  • Patent number: 7779050
Abstract: A method and system to process a domain. A domain is modeled with one or more domain models. Support models are generated from domain models. An ontological system utilizes the support models to interact with and manipulate the domain models. Further, the support models are used to describe domain model states.

  • Patent number: 7739123
Abstract: According to one aspect of the present invention, a method is provided in which information about a patient is received. The information about the patient may include diagnosis information based upon a diagnosis of the patient performed by a healthcare provider. Upon receiving the information about the patient, a query function is performed to retrieve from a database a list of data sources that correspond to the information received. One or more documents are generated that contain the list of data sources retrieved from the database.

  • Patent number: 7716209
Abstract: A method of searching for information includes receiving a query, providing the query to a first search engine that searches a set of data sources, the data sources having relationships to an ontology, receiving search results from the search engine, analyzing the search results to determine at least one statistic corresponding to the search results and the query, wherein the statistic is based upon a relevance score that is calculated based upon a first weighting function related to a concept, a second weighting function related to a data source item, a set of items related to the concept, and a set of items related to the search results, and providing at least one concept to a user, wherein said at least one concept correspond to said at least one statistic.

  • Patent number: 7657417
Abstract: A method, system and machine readable medium are disclosed to process one or more documents in a domain. The method includes modeling the domain with a plurality of domain models using an ontological system; representing each document as a collection of one or more domain models; and populating the domain models that are used to represent the document with values corresponding to properties of the document being represented.

  • Publication number: 20020128871
Abstract: According to one aspect of the present invention, a method is provided in which a request is submitted to a first node in a network containing multiple nodes, the request containing data relating to a healthcare event associated with a patient. The request is processed at the first node to obtain information from one or more databases associated with the first node, based upon the data contained in the request. The request is also processed at one or more additional nodes in the network to obtain information from one or more additional databases associated with the one or more additional nodes, based upon the data contained in the request. A response to the request is generated based upon an aggregation of information obtained from the first node and the one or more additional nodes.

  • Publication number: 20020007285
Abstract: According to one aspect of the present invention, a method is provided in which information about a medical procedure/test is received. The information about the medical procedure/test may include one or more codes or descriptions relevant to the patient and procedure/test that are used to process, identify or classify the medical procedure/test performed by a service provider. Upon receiving the information about the medical procedure/test, a query function is performed to retrieve from a database a list of data sources and/or support information that correspond to the information received. One or more documents are generated that contain the list of data sources and/or support information retrieved from the database.

  • Patent number: 4752889
Abstract: A knowledge system incorporating a graphic display which allows the user, at any time during the use of the system, to select a part of one of the displayed chucks of knowledge (or the only one) and to perform a command which will automatically display the link(s) of a certain nature to other chunks of knowledge. The latter chunks are thus dynamically added to the drawing. The same function can be applied recursively in any direction until no further knowledge chunks are to be displayed. The resulting drawing can be larger than the display screen and graphic window or screen scrolling mechanisms allow one to move from one area of the overall graph to another.
