Patent number: 9104340Abstract: Systems and methods for performing hierarchical storage operations on electronic data in a computer network are provided. In one embodiment, the present invention may store electronic data from a network device to a network attached storage (NAS) device pursuant to certain storage criteria. The data stored on the NAS may be migrated to a secondary storage and a stub file having a pointer pointing to the secondary storage may be put at the location the data was previously stored on the NAS. The stub file may redirect the network device to the secondary storage if a read request for the data is received from the network device.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2013Date of Patent: August 11, 2015Assignee: Commvault Systems, Inc.Inventors: Anand Prahlad, Jeremy Alan Schwartz

Patent number: 9098542Abstract: Systems and methods for managing electronic data are disclosed. Various data management operations can be performed based on a metabase formed from metadata. Such metadata can be identified from an index of data interactions generated by a journaling module, and obtained from their associated data objects stored in one or more storage devices. In various embodiments, such processing of the index and storing of the metadata can facilitate, for example, enhanced data management operations, enhanced data identification operations, enhanced storage operations, data classification for organizing and storing the metadata, cataloging of metadata for the stored metadata, and/or user interfaces for managing data. In various embodiments, the metabase can be configured in different ways. For example, the metabase can be stored separately from the data objects so as to allow obtaining of information about the data objects without accessing the data objects or a data structure used by a file system.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2014Date of Patent: August 4, 2015Assignee: Commvault Systems, Inc.Inventors: Anand Prahlad, Jeremy Alan Schwartz, David Ngo, Brian Brockway, Marcus S. Publication number: 20150119740Abstract: An embodiment in accordance with the present invention provides a device for whole-body plethysmography (WBP) of a mouse for the continuous characterization of sleep and breathing. The inherent limitations of standard WBP are addressed to enable the continuous recording of validated measures of tidal volume, tidal airflow, and respiratory effort surrogate in an unrestrained, unanesthetized mouse. The addition of standard EEG and EMG recording technology allows for respiratory patterns to be fully characterized during sleep and wakefulness. The present invention also allows for the demonstration of the development of dynamic upper airway obstruction [inspiratory flow limitation (IFL)] during sleep in a susceptible, obese murine strain.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2012Publication date: April 30, 2015Applicant: THE JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITYInventors: Adam Breaux Hernandez, Jason Kirkness, Hartmut Schneider, Mikhael Polotsky, Alan Schwartz, Philip Smith, Walter Hernandez

Patent number: 9003137Abstract: A modular data and storage management system. The system includes a time variance interface that provides for storage into a storage media of data that is received over time. The time variance interface of the modular data and storage management system provides for retrieval, from the storage media, of an indication of the data corresponding to a user specified date. The retrieved indication of the data provides a user with an option to access specific information relative to the data, such as content of files that are included in the data.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2014Date of Patent: April 7, 2015Assignee: CommVault Systems, Inc.Inventors: Anand Prahlad, Randy DeMeno, Jeremy Alan Schwartz, James Joseph McGuigan

Publication number: 20140217672Abstract: A card game in which players attempt to build the highest ranking two pairs of playing cards built in various rounds. Initially, one face down community card is dealt on the table, four face up public cards and one face down private card dealt to each player. Each player inspects his or her public cards to determine if there are two pairs of cards. The player with two pairs and having the highest ranking value may place a wager. If no player has two pairs, then one additional public card is dealt to each player until at least one player has two pairs of cards. Next, the community card is revealed to all players that may be combined with a player's public cards to make a second set of two pairs of cards. The player with the highest pair of cards in the second set may place a wager. Next, each remaining player may examine the private card and combine it with the community and public cards to make a third set of two pairs of cards.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 5, 2014Publication date: August 7, 2014Inventor: Alan Schwartz

Publication number: 20130174333Abstract: An adjustable goggle with eyepieces that are individually custom fitted over the user's eye sockets. The goggle includes a strap configured to extend around the user's head, two face conforming eyepieces affixed and configured on the strap so that they may be positioned over the user's eyes, and a three axis, adjustable nosepiece that extends between the two eyepieces. The nosepiece is made of one or more elastic strands that have the same or different resilient properties. The ends of the strands are affixed to the eyepieces to apply a resilient force thereon. During use, the user selects the desired nosepiece so that the eyepieces may be independently aligned themselves over the eye sockets and form a comfortable, watertight seal against the surrounding facial tissues when the goggles are worn. If needed, an optional sealing pad may be affixed to the inside surface of each eyepiece to provide a watertight seal against the surrounding facial tissues.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 21, 2012Publication date: July 11, 2013Inventor: Alan Schwartz
