  • Patent number: 7071347
Abstract: A method for decolorizing and stabilizing alkylphenyl esters of phosphoric acid which comprises contacting the esters with an effective amount of a benzofuranone (e.g., is 5,7-di-t-butyl-3-(3,4 di-methylphenyl)3H-benzofuran-2-one) for a sufficient length of time to decolorize and stabilize the esters against subsequent color formation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 1, 2001
Date of Patent: July 4, 2006
    Assignee: Supresta LLC
Inventors: Paul Albert Iacobucci, Anantha Desikan, Alan Abramson

  • Publication number: 20050137425
Abstract: A process for the alkylation of triphenylphosphate by reaction of triphenylphosphate with an olefin in the presence of an effective amount of a solid acid catalyst selected from the group consisting of at least one zeolite, heteropolyacid or salt thereof, metal triflate, non-aryl group-containing metal sulfonic acid, metal halide Lewis acid, or compatible mixture of any such catalyst.

Inventors: Alan Abramson, Anantha Desikan, Shuguang Zhang, Zongchao Zhang, James Liang
  • Patent number: 4412956
Abstract: Alkyl vanadates are formed by the reaction of vanadium pentoxide and an alkyl alcohol in the presence of an azeotroping solvent to assist in the removal of byproduct water, using an effective amount of a basic nitrogenous compound as a catalyst.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 27, 1981
Date of Patent: November 1, 1983
    Assignee: Stauffer Chemical Company
Inventors: Alan Abramson, George C. Ciomo, Gershon J. Davis, Edward D. Weil
  • Patent number: 4311652
Abstract: An improved process for phosphite rearrangement wherein the phosphite is rearranged to the phosphonate. The improvement comprises conducting the phosphite rearrangement reaction in an aliphatic solvent which is miscible with the reactants at reaction temperatures, and immiscible with the product at lower temperatures. Increased yields of the phosphonate product are obtained without the need for additional distillation for solvent separation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 28, 1980
Date of Patent: January 19, 1982
    Assignee: Stauffer Chemical Company
Inventors: Alan Abramson, Edward D. Weil
