  • Publication number: 20200045945
Abstract: The present invention relates to genetically edited swine which produce CD163 protein in which the scavenger receptor cysteine-rich 5 (SRCR5) domain (also known as CD163 domain 5) has been deleted. Such swine have been found to be healthy and do not exhibit negative properties, and are resistant to PRRSV infection. CD163 expressed in the edited swine also demonstrates retention of the ability to function as a haemoglobin-haptoglobin scavenger. Methods of producing such swine are also provided.

  • Patent number: 9854790
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and compositions useful for the prevention and/or treatment of PRRS in animals, typically domestic pigs. The invention relates to proteins which comprise fragments of CD163, nucleic acid constructs encoding such proteins, and methods of modifying expression or activity of CD 163 in vivo.

  • Patent number: 7785778
Abstract: Identification of a pig as resistant or non-resistant to enterotoxigenic E. Coli (ETEC). Particularly, there is provided methods, probes and DNA molecules involved in identifying a pig as resistant or non-resistant to ETEC. There is also provided methods for breeding pigs using the information of resistance/non-resistance, mixed boar semen, and methods for developing drugs to compensate for non-resistance to ETEC.
