  • Patent number: 11939039
Abstract: An aircraft door drainage system includes a precipitation receptacle disposed longitudinally along an upper edge of an aircraft door opening. The receptacle is mounted along the upper edge of the door opening by a plurality of brackets that connect the receptacle to an inside ceiling panel of the aircraft. The receptacle protrudes outward from the upper edge of the door opening into a path followed by precipitation falling off of an outer peripheral surface of a fuselage of the aircraft from locations above, forward, and aft of the door opening into the door opening when the aircraft door is in an open position. The receptacle remains clear of the aircraft door when the aircraft door is closed into the door opening. Drain hoses are connected at first and second ends of the receptacle to direct precipitation collected in the receptacle to an outside of the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 11220717
Abstract: This invention relates to a prognostic method for determining the risk of an asymptomatic human subject with latent tuberculosis (TB) infection or apparent latent TB infection and/or after suspected exposure to TB progressing to active tuberculosis disease comprising the steps of quantifying and computationally analysing relative abundances of a collection of pairs of gene products (“TB biomarkers”) derived from a sample obtained from the subject. The invention further relates to a collection of TB biomarkers that generates a transcriptomic signature of risk for prediction of the likelihood of an asymptomatic human subject with latent TB infection and/or after suspected exposure to TB progressing to active tuberculosis disease. Furthermore, a kit comprising gene-specific primers or oligonucleotide probes for the detection of pairs of TB biomarkers that generates a prognostic signature of risk for use with the method of the invention is described.

  • Patent number: 10035719
Abstract: Systems and methods for producing and extracting a gas from a wastewater fluid including multiple sheets or layers that form a composite membrane. The composite membrane includes a sandwich structure in which a dry matrix layer is surrounded by a first layer including a first immobilized bacteria and a second layer including a second immobilized bacteria. The first immobilized bacteria and the second immobilized bacteria can be configured to produce a gas from one or more compounds in a wastewater fluid. The dry matrix layer can be configured to receive the gas from the first and second layers, and the gas can be extracted from the membrane. The hydrophobic coatings can be disposed between the dry matrix layer and one or both of the first and second layers. An adhesive interface can be disposed between the dry matrix layer and one or both of the first and second layers.

  • Patent number: 9809357
Abstract: A combination container and latch is provided. The container comprises a body, a lid hingedly attached to the body and a pivoting latch that minimizes the possibility of the latch becoming entangled in the lid or damaged. The latch is moveable between a locked position in which the latch is distended and extends vertically upward within a body recess and a lid recess to engage a locking post, and an open position in which the latch is relaxed and extends horizontally within the body recess. The container and latch are designed so that the latch never extends beyond the container footprint.

  • Patent number: 9146974
Abstract: An apparatus, program product and method dynamically optimize prepared statements resident in a statement pool to permit subsequent reuses of such statements to utilize the optimized representations of such statements. The optimization of pooled statements may be performed responsive to the tracked usage of the statements in a statement pool, to direct the overhead associated with such optimization to those statements that are more likely to be utilized in the future. Among a multitude of possible optimizations, a pooled statement that requests data in a format other than that utilized by the database being accessed may be modified to request the data in the format used by the database, thereby decreasing the overhead in the database associated with format conversions.

  • Patent number: 8639710
Abstract: An apparatus, program product and method utilize one or more usage statistics, which are reflective of what data is actually and/or likely to be used by a client when processing a database query, to reduce or eliminate the transfer of unnecessary data between a client and server in a client-server database management system. Information such as the columns that are or have been used and/or the number of rows that have been accessed, may be utilized to identify certain data that is likely to not be used during processing of the database query. Based upon the data that has been identified, a subset of the data that would otherwise be returned as a result of the database query may be identified and returned to a client, often substantially reducing the amount of data required to be retrieved by a client in connection with a database query.

  • Patent number: 8423969
Abstract: An apparatus and program product utilize an inheritance breakpoint to assist in debugging an object-oriented computer program having a method identified in a base class or interface and implemented by at least one method implementation in another class. Creation of an inheritance breakpoint for a particular method responsive to a user request typically results in the automated generation of a breakpoint for all or a subset of the implementations of that method, often freeing a user from having to manually determine what particular implementation(s) implement that method. In many environments, the automated generation of implementation breakpoints may be performed during initial loading of classes within which such implementations may be defined.

  • Patent number: 7644394
Abstract: A computer system, program product and method debug an object-oriented computer program by tracking the creation of objects by a plurality of creators (e.g., constructor methods) of a selected class. A user need not separately track each creator. Instead, a debugger identifies each creator and associates breakpoints with all or a user-specified subset of creators to facilitate tracking. Any of the breakpoints may then trigger a halting of execution during debugging. Moreover, in some instances it may be desirable to track the number of creations by all or the subset of the creators for the selected class during program execution until a user-specified condition is satisfied, whereupon program execution is terminated and debugging information is provided to the user.

  • Publication number: 20090178217
Abstract: A device to encourage hand washing which provides visual feedback to a user who can control a video game or other visual feedback device while washing their hands. The device features at least one controller configured to operate when wet or continually doused with water while the user is washing their hands. The user may view a video or other means for visual interaction while washing their hands, and control a portion of the display with the controller. A video game or the like may thus be played by washing their hands thereby providing user encouragement to wash their hands. The controller may be employed with movement to provide a dermabrasive action against the palm of the user and with a surrounding skirt which is adapted to clean the back side of their hand while operating the controller.

  • Publication number: 20080215532
Abstract: A database optimizer collects statistics regarding applications accessing a database, and makes one or more changes to the database schema to optimize performance according to the collected statistics. In a first embodiment, the optimizer detects when a certain type of application accesses the database a percentage of time that exceeds a predefined threshold level, and if the data in the database is stored in a less-than-optimal format for the application, the data type of one or more columns in the database is changed to a more optimal format for the application. In a second embodiment, the optimizer detects when one type of application accesses a column a percentage of time that exceeds a first predefined threshold level and is less than a second predefined threshold level, and creates a new column in the database so the data is present in both formats.
