    Abstract: A laundry additive pouch is disclosed which includes a pair of plastic sheets joined to one another along mutually confronting and opposed marginal edges, one of the sheets including a smaller region remote from the marginal edges which mutually confronts and opposes an identical such smaller region of the other of the sheets and is joined thereto, each of the sheets having an opening confronting and opposing one another and surrounded by the joined portions of the smaller regions, and a laundry additive substance confined in a substantially annular-like space in the pouch between the joined marginal edges of the sheets and the joined portions of the smaller regions of the sheets.

    Abstract: A device for the purification of water and methods for the use thereof are disclosed. The device comprises a closed container substantially porous to water, a purification agent contained therein and an ingredient dispersed in the purification agent for the purpose of inhibiting fine particles of the agent from escaping the container when the device is immersed in water. The disclosed inhibitory ingredients include certain modified starches, wood flour and aluminium lanolate soap.The device is especially useful in removing incipient impurities from drinking water that can elude customary water treatment and render drinking water organoleptically unsatisfactory.
