  • Patent number: 8510826
Abstract: Service provider-independent on-demand distributed denial of service (DDoS) mitigation. A mitigation provider provides a service to customers to remove or reduce DDoS attacks regardless of the customer's relationship with a service provider. Customer profiles about the customers' IP traffics are loaded into mitigation devices. When a DDoS attack occurs, customer profiles are activated in a set of the mitigation devices. Routes are also modified to steer customer traffic to the mitigation devices. DDoS packets are removed at the mitigation devices and the “cleaned” IP traffic is subsequently routed to the destination.

  • Patent number: 7712509
Abstract: An automatic apparatus for applying labels to produce is provided which utilizes three or more label cassettes angularly disposed in coplanar fashion adjacent a rotary bellows applicator. The cassettes may include labels indicating different sizes or grades of produce, for example, and each produce item being labeled may have a label selected from any one of said multiple cassettes. High label speeds in excess of 1000 labels per minute are achieved along with selective labeling.

  • Patent number: 7021353
Abstract: A labeling apparatus is provided. The labeling apparatus includes a detachable label cassette which presents labels to be attached to fruit and/or vegetables and a label applicator which receives the label and applies it to the fruit and/or vegetables. Label strip is pulled off the label cassette by a label drive mechanism and the movement of the applicator is driven by an applicator drive mechanism both of which include stepper motor drives. A control arrangement controls both the label drive mechanism and the applicator drive mechanism and the control arrangement includes a memory device which stores parameters relating to different labels. The use of stepper motors in the drives and the use of a memory in the control arrangement makes it possible to provide for automatic set up on initiation or label change.

  • Publication number: 20060060293
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for automatically applying labels to produce. Adhesive labels are carried on a split, two part carrier strip along an axis of motion to a stripper edge and are stripped and thereafter applied by a rotary bellows applicator to the produce. The labels are thin and flexible adhesive labels and are momentarily bent about their axis of motion as they approach the stripper edge and the labels are returned to a planar unbent configuration immediately after they are stripped. The invention allows the rotary bellows applicator to be oriented in a much wider variety of configurations relative to the label carrier strip. The invention also provides a significantly narrower stripping plate for use in automatic labeling machines.

  • Publication number: 20060060294
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for manually applying labels to produce. Adhesive labels are carried on a split, two part carrier strip along an axis of motion to a stripper edge and are stripped and thereafter applied by a manual applicator to the produce. The labels are thin and flexible adhesive labels and are momentarily bent about their axis of motion as they approach the stripper edge and the labels are returned to a planar unbent configuration immediately after they are stripped. The invention allows the surface of each produce item to be oriented in a much wider variety of configurations relative to the label carrier strip. The invention also provides a significantly narrower stripping plate for use in manual labeling machines.

  • Patent number: 4896793
Abstract: A machine particularly for applying labels to non-uniform items such as fruit and vegetables, the labels being provided along a carrier strip and the carrier strip having profiled edges, said machine including means for separating the labels from the carrier, a profiled means, such as a profiled roller, engageable with the edges of the carrier to advance the carrier strip from a storage means to the separating means.

  • Patent number: 4281766
Abstract: To sort first bodies from a mixture of first and second bodies in which the first bodies, for example potatoes or other root crop, are less dense than the second bodies, for example stones harvested simultaneously with the root crop, the mixture is dropped down a vertical pathway onto an energy absorber. This comprises spaced resilient strips disposed side by side in a common plane transverse to the vertical. The impact of the denser second bodies bends the strips down sufficiently to allow the second bodies to continue along the pathway past the energy absorber. But the less dense first bodies only bend the strips to a lesser extent and are halted thereby. On resiling the strips flick such halted first bodies from the pathway.
