  • Patent number: 4370259
Abstract: Hydrocarbons are oxidatively dehydrogenated in the presence of a catalyst comprising a mixture of oxides of manganese, phosphorus, and an alkali metal, optionally, supported on a refractory oxide. In one embodiment, ethane is converted to ethylene in the presence of a catalyst comprising a mixture of oxides of manganese, phosphorus, and sodium supported on alumina.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 6, 1981
Date of Patent: January 25, 1983
    Assignee: Phillips Petroleum Company
Inventors: Alan D. Eastman, John H. Kolts
  • Patent number: 4368346
Abstract: The catalytic oxidative dehydrogenation of paraffins having from 2 to 5 carbon atoms is carried out in the presence of a catalyst composition comprising cobalt; phosphorus; at least one promoter selected from the group consisting of zinc, titanium, zirconium, niobium, indium, lead and bismuth; and oxygen. The catalyst composition also comprises at least one alkali metal and/or at least one halogen selected from the group consisting of chlorine, bromine and iodine. The selectivity of the catalyst composition is improved by the presence of the at least one alkali metal. The conversion of the catalyst composition is improved by the presence of the at least one halogen.

Date of Patent: January 11, 1983
    Assignee: Phillips Petroleum Company
    Inventor: Alan D. Eastman
  • Patent number: 4333855
Abstract: The catalytic hydrodesulfurization and/or hydrodenitrogenation of organic compounds containing sulfur and/or nitrogen is carried out in the presence of a catalyst composition comprising zinc, titanium and at least one promoter selected from the group consisting of vanadium, chromium, cobalt, nickel, molybdenum, tungsten, rhenium, platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium, and compounds thereof.

  • Patent number: 4327238
Abstract: The catalytic dehydrogenation of at least one dehydrogenatable organic compound which has at least one ##STR1## grouping is carried out in the presence of a zinc titanate catalyst. The selectivity of the zinc titanate catalyst is improved by at least one promoter selected from the group consisting of chromium oxide, antimony oxide, bismuth oxide, oxides of the lanthanides, oxides of the actinides, oxides thereof, and compounds convertible to the oxides thereof.

  • Patent number: 4064190
Abstract: Acetylenic compounds are selectively removed by conversion to innocuous materials by contacting hydrocarbon mixtures containing same with a copper-tin and/or lead-zinc aluminate catalyst. In one embodiment, acetylenic compounds are selectively removed from unsaturated hydrocarbon-containing mixtures in a cyclic process comprising alternate contact of the catalyst with a gaseous hydrocarbon phase containing acetylenic contaminants and thereafter of the catalyst with an oxygen-containing gas to regenerate the catalyst.
