Abstract: A substantially non-aqueous liquid detergent product comprising a liquid surfactant phase and a solid phase dispersed therein, the liquid surfactant phase comprising an ethoxylated alcohol having an average of from 5 to 8 ethylene oxide (EO) groups per molecule, at least 60% having a number of ethylene oxide groups within .+-.2EO of the average and the alkyl chain distribution being such that less than 2% has a chain length of 9 or less carbon atoms, at least 90% has a chain length between 10 and 12 carbon atoms and less than 10% has a chain length of 13 or more carbon atoms, said percentages being by weight of the ethoxylated alcohol.

Abstract: Particulate alkaline detergent compositions for fabric washing, which include synthetic detergent compounds and alkali metal tripolyphosphate and alkali metal orthophosphate detergency builders, are made by spray-drying a detergent base powder containing some or all of the detergent compounds and some or all of the orthophosphate and admixing at least 2.5% by weight of the tripolyphosphate in particulate form with the spray-dried base powder.

Abstract: Detergent bars and liquids/pastes for topical application are given moisturizing properties by the use of materials selected from dicarboxylic acids and their salts, hydroxy acids and their salts and amino acids and their salts. Examples are adipic acid, maleic acid and glycine; in the bars these moisturizing components are usually present at a level of above 20%.
