  • Patent number: 11454145
Abstract: A housing for a drive system. The housing defines a motor cavity, an electronics cold plate, an oil cavity, and a coolant cavity. The coolant cavity defines a first coolant flow path configured to provide cooling to the motor cavity and the oil cavity. The coolant cavity defines a second flow path configured to provide cooling to the motor cavity and the cold plate. The housing defines a coolant inlet and a coolant outlet fluidically coupled to the first coolant flow path and the second coolant flow path, such that the first coolant flow path and the second coolant flow path are parallel fluid paths. In some applications the coolant paths can be connected in series. In some examples, the housing is configured to cause a counter-flow heat exchange between an oil flowing in the oil cavity and a coolant flowing in the first coolant flow path.

  • Patent number: 10965183
Abstract: A traction drive system for a vehicle includes a housing, a high-speed motor, a motor controller, a transmission, a cooling system, and a lubricating oil system. The housing defines a motor cavity, an electronics cavity, an oil cavity, and a cooling fluid cavity. The cooling fluid cavity is thermally coupled to each of the motor, electronics, and oil cavities. The high-speed motor is substantially within the motor cavity and coupled to a lubricating oil system fluidically coupled to the oil cavity. The motor controller includes electronics within the electronics cavity. The transmission is mechanically coupled to the high-speed motor and coupled to the lubricating oil system fluidically coupled to the oil cavity. The cooling system is fluidically coupled to the cooling fluid cavity and configured to cool the high-speed motor, the motor controller, and the lubricating oil system.

  • Patent number: 8558512
Abstract: An electrical generator has an engine that provides a mechanical output that is converted to electrical current by an alternator. The engine is started by a battery-powered motor starter. The battery is charged during running of the electrical generator by a portion of the electrical current output by the alternator. The battery is charged according to a charging profile based on the temperature of the battery at start up of the electrical generator.

  • Publication number: 20090261067
Abstract: The present invention is directed to methods and apparatus for prototyping three dimensional objects from a plurality of sequential layers that satisfies the need for an inexpensive method for producing both appearance models and functional parts. The method of the present invention includes building cross sectional portions of a three dimensional article, and assembling the individual cross sectional areas in a layer wise fashion to form a final article.

  • Publication number: 20080233623
Abstract: The present invention provides genetically modified host cells that exhibit modified activity levels of one or more gene products such that, when a cytochrome P450 enzyme is produced in the genetically modified host cell, the modified activity levels of the one or more gene products provide for enhanced production and/or activity of the cytochrome P450 enzyme. The present invention provides methods of producing a cytochrome P450 enzyme in a host cell, generally involving culturing a subject genetically modified host cell in a suitable culture medium. The present invention further provides methods of producing a product of a P450-dependent oxidation, generally involving culturing a subject genetically modified host cell in a suitable culture medium.

  • Publication number: 20060152198
Abstract: A method is provided for exercising an engine-driven, electrical generator. The generator has a first operation mode wherein the generator generates a predetermined output voltage at a predetermined frequency with the engine running a predetermined operating speed and a second exercise mode. The method includes the step of running the engine at a predetermined exercise speed with the generator in the exercise mode. The predetermined exercise speed is in the range of 40% to 70% of the predetermined operating speed of the engine. In addition, in the exercise mode, the generator generates an exercise voltage that is less than the predetermined output voltage.
