Patent number: 11548472Abstract: A seat belt assembly unit includes a seat belt retractor, seat back, seat back frame, a rear wall interconnecting the side walls of a vehicle, a tubular member extending along the length of the rear wall and a belt guide disposed adjacent to the seat back and rigidly attached to the tubular member. The seat belt guide is a rod-shaped member formed substantially into a U-shape with its side portions inserted into holes on the tubular member. A shoulder belt extending from the retractor and passing through the seat belt guide, restrains occupants to the seat. The pulling force of the shoulder belt which restrains the occupant in the seat is transferred to the tubular member via the belt guide.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2022Date of Patent: January 10, 2023Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Igor Tchepikov, Nuttaphon Boonyarangkavorn, Alan Dyer, Christian Trentin, Brett Carroll

Patent number: 7332089Abstract: The invention provides a use of a material comprising antimony silicate as a sorbent in the removal of metal ions, e.g. radioactive metal ions, from an acidic liquid medium. The metal ions may be selectively removed from amongst other ions such as Na, K, Mg, and Ca ions. Strontium is particularly effectively removable in this way. There is also provided a method of preparing an antimony silicate material for use in removing metal ions. The invention further provides a material comprising antimony silicate doped with one or more elements selected from the group consisting of tungsten, niobium and tantalum. The doped material has been found to be particularly effective as a sorbent in the removal of metal ions from a liquid medium.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2003Date of Patent: February 19, 2008Assignee: INEOS Silicas Ltd.Inventors: Risto Olavi Harjula, Johanna Teresia Moller, Suheel Amin, Alan Dyer, Martyn Pillinger, Jonathan Andrew Newton, Esko Heikki Tusa, Maurice Webb

Patent number: 5322641Abstract: This invention relates to inorganic materials which incorporate metallic material and which have desirable magnetic properties, to methods of making such filled materials, and to applications of the filled material, including their use as fillers in plastics and in ceramics. An inorganic material is provided having a microporous structure (as hereinbefore defined) in which at least some of the micropores thereof are at least partially filled by at least one metal, metal alloy or metal compound or mixture thereof forming a structure within the micropores and which are present in an amount sufficient to modify the magnetic and optionally the electrically conductive properties of the unfilled material. Preferably the structure formed within the micropores is a dimensional structure (as hereinbefore defined) which is influenced by the structure of the microporous material. A preferred material is a zeolite loaded with at least 1% by weight of cobalt.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 1992Date of Patent: June 21, 1994Assignee: Alcan International LimitedInventors: Leslie E. Shiel, Alan Dyer, Kenneth A. Evans, Angus I. Kirkland, Peter P. Edwards

Patent number: 4355637Abstract: It has already been suggested that chronic exposure of humans to nitrous oxide is a potential health hazard. There is especial concern for those working in the vicinity of a patient to whom nitrous oxide is administered as an anaesthetic. The present invention provides a disposable surgical mask characterized in that a layer comprising particles of a molecular sieve based on silicon dioxide and having an affinity for nitrous oxide is disposed between adjacent layers of the mask. Wearing such a mask reduces personal exposure to nitrous oxide.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1980Date of Patent: October 26, 1982Assignee: Laporte Industries LimitedInventor: Alan Dyer

Patent number: 4329328Abstract: Sodium zinco/stanno/titano-silicate is synthesized by mixing a concentrated aqueous sodium zincate, stannate or titanate solution with a source of silica (e.g. powdered glass or sodium metasilicate solution) in the ratio 60 g sodium silicate to sodium zincate equivalent to 8.1 g zinc oxide, keeping the temperature at 40.degree. C. for 1/2 hour, diluting threefold with water of 20.degree. C., allowing a precipitate to form overnight, and filtering and drying the residue at 110.degree. C.The resulting sodium zincosilicate may be used in its own right as a water softener or may be converted by cation exchange into any other desired zincosilicate.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1980Date of Patent: May 11, 1982Assignee: National Research Development CorporationInventors: Patrick McAnespie, Alan Dyer, Bharati J.
