Patent number: 11917422Abstract: An information handling system executing an intelligent throughput performance analysis and issue detection system may comprise a network interface device to establish a wireless link with a wireless network and a processor to execute a neural network trained to predict wireless link throughput values based on controlled connectivity testing metrics gathered in a controlled laboratory from tested information handling systems. The processor may gather measured throughput of the wireless link and operational connectivity metrics for the information handling system that describe antenna positional information, antenna adaptation controller parameters, signal strength measurements, and wireless link performance metrics. The neural network may output, based on the gathered operational connectivity metrics a predicted throughput value that differs from the measured throughput by a maximum tolerance.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2021Date of Patent: February 27, 2024Assignee: Dell Products, LPInventors: Wei-Chia Huang, Chuang-Yueh Chen, YungShun Lin, Alan Eric Sicher, Lars Fredrik Proejts

Patent number: 6538606Abstract: A computer system that provides for an antenna port with a bay or door that receives a module containing an antenna. The antenna module contains an antenna or a set of antennas that support wireless communication technologies contained in the computer system. The antenna module is “standardized” and can be used for various computer systems employing the standard port with the bay or door. The antenna module may be developed and certified separate from the notebook system. In addition to the antennas, a diversity switch may be added, the diversity switch is used to choose the proper antenna for communication. A high gain amplifier and filters to compensate for RF signals may also be added to the module. A receiver, transmitter, or transceiver device may be added to the module or may be placed in the computer system. Placing the device on the module allows the transmission of digital signals, providing decreased signal loss along transmission lines.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2001Date of Patent: March 25, 2003Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: Liam B. Quinn, Alan Eric Sicher

Publication number: 20020137472Abstract: A switching system to multiple transceivers in a mobile computing system allows communication through various technologies, namely belonging to WWAN, WLAN, and WPAN space. A common antenna or antennas is shared by the transceivers. The switching system connects the proper transceiver to the antenna system and communication priority to and from the computer system is given to the chosen transceiver. The transceivers are placed on a Mini PCI card or similar factor form and interface directly to the computing system. Transceiver priority may be chosen by a particular application or when communication is being sent to the system, the proper transceiver may be chosen to receive the communicated signals.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 23, 2001Publication date: September 26, 2002Inventors: Liam B. Quinn, Alan Eric Sicher

Patent number: 5729531Abstract: A method for reassigning mobile stations a new phase within a channel is disclosed. In a communication system, a plurality of mobile stations attempt to communicate on a limited number of channels. The invention first uses a general allocation method to approximately evenly distribute the mobile stations on the available channels. After a mobile station begins active communication on the system, a second allocation method is used to change the phase of some mobile stations on a channel which has become heavily loaded. In addition, a message can also be sent to mobile stations assigned to but not yet actively communicating on the heavily loaded channel indicating that the mobile stations should change to a new channel.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1995Date of Patent: March 17, 1998Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM EricssonInventors: Alex Krister Raith, Alan Eric Sicher, Lars Billstrom, John Diachina, Raymond C.
