    Abstract: In a color marking assembly, a series of ROS units are aligned above a photoconductive surface. These units have inboard and outboard mounts connecting them to this assembly. The inboard mounts are attached to a first side of the ROS, and the outboard mounts are attached to a second side of the ROS unit. The inboard mount is an elongated bar extending beyond the height of the ROS unit. This elongated bar has hinged portions on both its top and bottom connections to the ROS unit. The outboard mount has a ball bearing or sphere configuration. This configuration and the inboard mount enable the ROS unit to be easily deskewed when required.

    Abstract: A sheet transporting device assembly, such as a idler mounting assembly, of an image forming device has a frame portion attachably detachable to a guide member. The frame portion has at least one opening able to receive at least one idler roll. Each idler roll is rotatably attached to a shaft. The shaft is moveably attached to the frame by an attachment structure. The idler mounting assembly is pivotably and precisely aligned with the outer mainframe so that the components of the outer frame and the idler mounting assembly are aligned, and further allows the user to gain access the space around the guide member and between the idler rolls and drive rolls of the outer frame.

    Abstract: A paper conditioner to control image dependent curl in a copier/printer includes a reservoir for storing a quantity of liquid, a pair of rolls in contact with one another so as to define a nip, and a metering roll associated with the reservoir and one of the pair of rolls. The metering roll forms a nip with one of the pair of rolls to direct a controlled flow of liquid from the reservoir to the nip area. Seals located at opposed ends of the metering roll and the roll with which it forms a nip prevent the flow of excess liquid from the ends of the metering roll.

    Abstract: A paper conditioner to control image dependent curl which uses one or more counter-rotating transfer rollers which are initially spaced from their respective back-up rollers in the intercopy gap, and which come together as the lead edge enters the nip area, and separates when the trail edge is about to pass. This permits the rollers to have a less demanding runout tolerance by bringing the rollers together when the sheet is in the nip, and then articulating the rollers apart in the intercopy gap.

    Abstract: An apparatus for registering substrates while they are partially in a turn baffle assembly. The apparatus includes a registration transport assembly and a turn baffle assembly having a pinch roller assembly. The pinch roller assembly includes a set of pinch rollers which feed the substrate through the turn baffle assembly and into the registration transport assembly. The pinch roller assembly also includes a motion inducing device for selectively moving one pinch roller away from the other and a low friction roller which is somewhat larger than one of the pinch rollers. The low friction roller is located near a pinch roller such that when the pinch rollers are moved apart, the low friction roller biases the substrate way from a pinch roller so as to reduce or eliminate friction between the substrate and that pinch roller.
