    Abstract: The current disclosure provides methods for treating chronic pain. The present methods reduce opioid analgesic/antiallodynic tolerance in a subject with chronic pain and prevent the development of opioid analgesic/antiallodynic tolerance. More specifically, the inventive methods include the administration of a caveolin-1 scaffolding domain competing polypeptide (CSD) and/or a non-receptor tyrosine kinase (c-Src) inhibitor to reduce opioid analgesic/antiallodynic tolerance as well as prevent the onset of opioid analgesic/antiallodynic tolerance in a subject with chronic pain.
