  • Patent number: 11944774
Abstract: An embodiment includes a vascular port comprising: first and second portions that are not monolithic with each other; wherein: (a)(i) the first portion includes a first arcuate surface to contour to a first portion of a vessel and the second portion includes a second arcuate surface to contour to a second portion of the vessel; (a)(ii) the first and second portions couple to one another around the vessel when implanted to form a central chamber that houses the vessel; (a)(iii) the first portion includes a port that includes a funnel with a funnel surface that narrows as the funnel surface approaches the central chamber; (a)(iv) the central chamber includes a central longitudinal axis and the funnel includes a central vertical axis that is orthogonal to the longitudinal axis; (a)(v) the second portion includes a hardened, non-compliant surface that intersects the vertical axis.

  • Publication number: 20240001098
Abstract: A vascular access device with vessel accommodation includes a top portion and a bottom portion. The top portion includes a top vascular housing for encasing a top portion of a vessel when implanted and at least one hollow male member extending from the top vascular housing. The bottom portion includes a bottom vascular housing for encasing a bottom portion of the vessel when implanted and at least one female member disposed at an upward-facing coupling edge of the bottom vascular housing. The at least one female member receives the at least one hollow male member of the top portion to couple the top portion and the bottom portion together such that the top and bottom portions can move vertically with respect to one another but rotation and movement in the horizontal/longitudinal directions are inhibited.

  • Publication number: 20220323662
Abstract: A vascular access device with arteriovenous fistula support includes a top portion and a bottom portion. The top portion has a partial artery channel, a partial vessel channel, and a partial arteriovenous joint between the partial artery channel and the partial vessel channel, where the partial vessel channel has a vascular access aperture for exposing the vessel. The bottom portion has a corresponding partial artery channel, partial vessel channel, and partial arteriovenous joint between the partial artery channel and the partial vessel channel. When the top portion is coupled to the bottom portion, the two partial artery channels couple together to form an artery channel, the two partial vessel channels couple together to form a vessel channel, and the two partial arteriovenous joints couple together to form an arteriovenous joint for an arteriovenous fistula.

  • Publication number: 20220039831
Abstract: An external needle guide can include a skin contact portion for attaching to skin of a patient and a needle guide portion for guiding a needle into a vessel of the patient. The external needle guide provides an accurate placement of a needle into the vessel (e.g., a good puncture), which reduces the failures of the vessel. Furthermore, because of the accurate placement of the needles and the ease of placement of the external needle guide, a patient and/or another person can insert the needles into the vessel with one hand. An external needle guide can also include an anchor portion that secures a needle to the external needle guide, preventing unwanted movement of the needle and damage to the vessel.

  • Patent number: 10939517
Abstract: A method of controlling application of a dose of light energy for treatment to disinfect an area includes causing the dose of light energy to be emitted from at least one light emitting device, receiving a wavelength and intensity of light emitted from a fluorescent component within the area being disinfected by the dose of light energy, and adjusting at least one of a current, a voltage, a pulse width, and a pulse frequency applied to the at least one light emitting device based on the received wavelength and intensity of the light emitted from the fluorescent component.

  • Publication number: 20200360547
Abstract: A method for applying LED light treatment includes initiating operation of at least one LED of an LED array of an LED module for a predetermined period of time; and during the predetermined period of time, receiving a signal from a light sensor that indicates light reflected from a surface of a patient's wound. During operation, when the signal from the light sensor indicates that an appropriate dose of light is not being irradiated, operation of the at least one LED is adjusted and when the signal from the light sensor indicates the appropriate dose of light is being irradiated, operation of the at least one LED continues until the predetermined period of time has been achieved.
