  • Patent number: 9117119
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed towards a compact, mobile apparatus for iris image acquisition, adapted to address effects of ocular dominance in the subject and to guide positioning of the subject's iris for the image acquisition. The apparatus may include a sensor for acquiring an iris image from a subject. A compact mirror may be oriented relative to a dominant eye of the subject, and sized to present an image of a single iris to the subject when the apparatus is positioned at a suitable distance for image acquisition. The mirror may assist the subject in positioning the iris for iris image acquisition. The mirror may be positioned between the sensor and the iris during iris image acquisition, and transmit a portion of light reflected off the iris to the sensor.

  • Patent number: 8737003
Abstract: Described embodiments provide an interleaved sampler having N sample and hold circuits for sampling an input signal, and M multiplexers. Each multiplexer is adapted to couple all N of the plurality of sample and hold circuits to a respective output of the interleaved sampler. The interleaved sampler samples at a sample rate of fs, has an interleaved sampling period of M/fs, where M is greater than one and less than N. Because there are more sample and hold circuits than there are samples taken during an interleaved sampling period, different combinations of the sample and hold circuits are used from interleaved sample period to interleaved sample period. This reduces spurious tones generated from offset voltages when using interleaved sample and hold circuits. The order of the sample and hold circuits are clocked might be random, pseudorandom, or a fixed pattern longer than the interleaved sampling period.

  • Patent number: 8108119
Abstract: The present invention provides a collision avoidance apparatus and method employing stereo vision applications for adaptive vehicular control. The stereo vision applications are comprised of a road detection function and a vehicle detection and tracking function. The road detection function makes use of three-dimensional point data, computed from stereo image data, to locate the road surface ahead of a host vehicle. Information gathered by the road detection function is used to guide the vehicle detection and tracking function, which provides lead motion data to a vehicular control system of the collision avoidance apparatus. Similar to the road detection function, stereo image data is used by the vehicle detection and tracking function to determine the depth of image scene features, thereby providing a robust means for identifying potential lead vehicles in a headway direction of the host vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20070283625
Abstract: A screen system for providing cover may has a structural frame; at least one screen panel; a fastenable connection system between one side of the structural frame and an opposed side of the at least one screen panel, and a grasping element extending out of or into a side of the screen panel opposite the opposed side of the at least one screen panel. Force can be applied to the grasping element to disengage the fastenable connection system while retaining structure in the fastenable connection system so that a disengaged screen panel can be reattached to the structural frame.

  • Patent number: 7136832
Abstract: A commerce visibility network allows for the collection and distribution of real-time location and status information regarding the movement of goods and assets through a supply chain. Items and/or conveyances may be individually tagged using radio frequency identifiers or other tagging technologies, such as global positioning satellite technology. The location of an item or conveyance may be marked and information on the location may be stored at a site server. The site server may then upload location information to a data center. Supply chain users may then be charged a fee per tracked item or fee per transaction to access the data center and view reports compiled using the location information regarding each tracked item. This allows for instantaneous access to location and status information of any item in the supply chain. Additionally, aggregation information is provided to allow for the tracking of items which are stored in conveyances, even in several levels of conveyances.

  • Publication number: 20050284016
Abstract: Ways to provide control of mosquitoes in the vicinity of human beings by leading mosquitoes into a strategically designed maze for capture. The maze takes advantage of the natural tracking instincts and flight patterns of mosquitoes. These tracking instincts consist of mosquito's natural ability to follow, to the source, detected body movement, body scents, odors, and gas emissions discharged from living people and other living warm-blooded animals. The maze also takes advantage of the natural flight patterns, habits and flight weakness of mosquitoes. Taking advantage the mosquitoes tracking instincts and flight patterns the maze has a series of precisely set openings, textured surfaces, a flight maze, and screen that passively lore's and captures mosquitoes. 4506473 March 1985 Waters 43/114. 4765090 August 1988 Kuan et al. 43/127. 4833818 May 1989 Beta 43/132.

  • Publication number: 20050082862
Abstract: An overhead rail system for a vehicle interior includes an elongated rail configured to extend at least partially along a headliner panel within the vehicle interior. A longitudinal opening extends at least partially along a length of the rail. An article has a housing and a movable panel. The movable panel is configured to provide access to an object. A holder is coupled to the article and has a catch configured to coact with the opening in the rail, so that the article is mountable to the rail proximate the headliner panel for use by occupants within the vehicle interior.

  • Patent number: 6594399
Abstract: In a method of integrating one or more l-dimensional filters into a digital image stream interface a single digital video input is processed by multiple 1-dimensional digital image filters, especially recursive filters, and combined into a single digital image stream which can be transmitted via a high-speed interface to a host computer's memory such that each 1-dimensional filter output can be automatically extracted and placed into its own separate memory buffer for subsequent processing by a secondary image processing device. This additional processing can include the second pass of a two-pass separable filter implemented in software on a general-purpose CPU, and in particular can result in the generation of an image pyramid. This combined hardware and software approach can produce low-cost 2-D digital image filter implementations small enough to be added to existing standard ASIC's while still retaining high performance.
