Abstract: An alarm system comprising a resilient foam pad contained within a cover, said cover being provided with air flow detector arranged to detect air leaving the cover in response to the application of a weight to the foam pad, and/or air entering the cover in response to the removal of at least some of said weight, and signalling means responsive to said detector. This system is particular useful for monitoring the movements of patients including babies, in and out of their beds or cots.
