  • Patent number: 11446743
Abstract: A rotary cutting tool with a shank and an interchangeable cutting tip, wherein the shank includes a pocket which receives the interchangeable cutting tip via an interference fit. The pocket includes two centering wall portions which, when viewed along a central longitudinal axis, are oriented at a first angle with respect to one another, the first angle being greater than zero. The interchangeable cutting tip is axially displaceable between: an initial position, assumed upon being received in the pocket of the shank; a clamped position, wherein the interchangeable cutting tip is fixedly held with respect to the shank; and a bump-off position, wherein the interchangeable cutting tip is not fixedly held. A holding element holds the interchangeable cutting tip in the clamped position, and a spring assembly which displaces the interchangeable cutting tip between the clamped position and the bump-off position. Other variants and embodiments are broadly contemplated herein.

  • Patent number: 10118231
Abstract: In one aspect, cam bolts are described herein employing a dual cam surface architecture. In some embodiments, a cam bolt described herein defines a longitudinal axis and comprises a first end, a second end, at least one engagement member disposed on at least one of the first end and the second end, at least two first cam surfaces, and at least one second cam surface. The engagement member is configured to engage a torque implement to rotate the cam bolt about the longitudinal axis when torque is applied by the torque implement. The first cam surfaces are disposed about the longitudinal axis and have a first cam profile. The second cam surface is disposed about the longitudinal axis between the first cam surfaces and has a second cam profile differing from the first cam profile. At least one of the first and second cam profiles can be non-circular.

  • Patent number: 10071430
Abstract: A cutting head is formed for insertion into a support in a modular rotary tool, in particular a drill. The coupling head has a coupling having torque surfaces and clamping surfaces on its outer periphery. The coupling pin is divided into a front pin part and a rear pin part. The front pin part is defined by a circumferential groove. Stop surfaces for an axial pullout safety are formed in the transition area between the two the front pin part and the rear pin part. The torque surfaces and the clamping surfaces are arranged in different pin parts. For example, the clamping surfaces are preferably formed on the front pin part and the torque surfaces are preferably formed in the rear pin part.
