  • Patent number: 8517732
Abstract: A dental matrix clamp includes an elongate body and a matrix band mountable relative to the body so as to form a loop projecting at one end of the body. The clamp has a tensioning device operable on the band to tighten the loop, and a deflector member which engages the band to provide an inclined conformation thereto. The deflector member is adjustable transversely across the band between opposite positions at which it bears against opposite peripheral portions of the band. The clamp is a hand-held device used in dentistry to clamp a band around a tooth for retention and molding of filling material.

  • Patent number: 7850646
Abstract: A syringe has a barrel to receive a cartridge. The barrel has a front end portion to which a needle is connected for engagement with the cartridge. At its rear end, the barrel has a plunger mechanism. A sleeve is slidably mounted on the barrel and can be pushed forwards to sheath the needle. The needle is mounted on the barrel via a push-fit mounting device. The needle can be removed for disposal in a container by inserting the syringe into a tube on top of the container so that the protective needle sleeve is pushed back and the needle and mounting device pass through a collar of gripping fingers at an inner end of the tube. The fingers catch behind the mounting device so that this is pulled off to drop into the container with the needle when the syringe is withdrawn from the tube.

  • Publication number: 20100243495
Abstract: A container, for disposal of unsafe waste such as so-called “sharps” waste or other contaminated surgical, medical, or other materials, is in the form of a receptacle with an inlet for waste. In one embodiment, the inlet has gripper fingers so that a used needle can be pulled off a syringe, to fall into the receptacle, after insertion of the needle through the gripper fingers and then withdrawing the syringe away from the fingers. A base is provided for attaching the receptacle to a surface. The receptacle is interconnected with the base through a channel on the base, and a projecting part on the receptacle. The part can slide along the channel in one direction for interconnection of the receptacle and the base. A retention device is provided to prevent sliding in the opposite longitudinal direction e.g. when the syringe is withdrawn in such direction away from the fingers.

  • Publication number: 20090186315
Abstract: A dental articulator has upper and lower cast models of a patient's upper and lower teeth in shells (13a, 13b) linked by an articulation joint (14). The models are formed in the shells (13a, 13b) by locating a bite tray (1, 25) having impressions on opposite sides between the shells (13a, 13b) in fixed positional relationship thereto. The lowermost shell (13a) is filled with casting material in contact with the lowermost impression and this is allowed to set to form one model. The bite tray (1, 25) and shells (13a, 13b) are then turned over to enable the other model to be formed in the other shell (13b). The bite tray (1, 25) has a projecting handle (6, 28) which is clamped with a clamping device (19) which can be detachably mounted on a base (10) both ways up. The shells (13a, 13b) can also be detachably mounted on the base (10) both ways up. Locating devices (11, 12) are provided so that the clamping devices (19) and the shells (13a, 13b) retain their positional interrelationship both ways up.

  • Publication number: 20080110923
Abstract: A syringe for dispensing a viscous settable material such as dental impression material has a tubular body (1) with an internal chamber (4), a plunger (2) movable through an open distal inlet end (5) along the chamber (4), and a nozzle (3) connected to an open proximal outlet end (6) of the chamber The outlet end (6) is wide relative to the chamber cross-section and the nozzle can be detached to facilitate cleaning after use. The nozzle (3) when detached, may be displaceable from the outlet end (6) to the inlet end (5) to remove residual material due to a close scraping action between a rim (13a) on the nozzle (3) and the interior surface of the chamber (4). The nozzle may also be non-removable so that cleaning can be readily effected due to the relatively wide outlet (6) using a pull-through.

  • Patent number: 6666686
Abstract: A dental anchoring device for attaching to a dentist's drill bit comprises a threaded anchoring part, connected to a rod by a weakened waisted portion. The rod is carried by a main body of the dental anchoring device with a shaped axial blind bore for fitting the body onto the shank of the drill bit, having a bit end receivable in the blind bore. A tapered part of the shank of the drill bit and matching section of the bore are provided with respective flat faces to key the shank to the body. A locking groove keys the shank of the drill bit into the chuck of a dentists drill. In an alternative embodiment, a line of weakness is provided between a metal anchoring rod and a plastics body, which is severed when a limiting torque is exceeded, allowing the body to be withdrawn, and the rod to be left in situ.

  • Patent number: 6430830
Abstract: A dental measuring device can be used to measure the separation of reference positions on a patient's upper and lower jaws to assist in the construction of dentures. The device has two elements which slide longitudinally relative to each other with a pointer on one and a scale on the other. The elements have projecting arms. The sliding elements can be reversed so that in one position the arms point in the same direction for measuring the separation of specific points on the patient's nose and chin, and in a second position the arms point in opposite directions for positioning beneath the patient's nose and chin.
