    Abstract: A system and method for the identification of the fuel used in an electronically controlled internal combustion engine that may utilize an advanced fuel such as a fuel emulsion is provided. Where an unauthorized fuel is determined to be used in the engine, the electronic control module disables the engine by limiting fuel flow to the injectors.
